Our featured 2010 NFL mock draft is by Jess Silk.
Detroit is going to pick first and Jess thinks they will take Matthew Stafford, QB, Georgia.
He says "The Detroit Lions will finally have a franchise quarterback with the selection of Matthew Stafford. The first thing that comes to mind in concern to Stafford is his rocket arm that can stretch the field. The thought of pairing such a quality with a fantastic receiver such as Calvin Johnson should bring Detroit fans hope, at least on the offensive side of the ball. Stafford just seems to have all the makings of a very good quarterback in this league. His experience in college in a pro-style offense in a challenging conference also makes him very ready for the National Football League. Aside from the need for a true left tackle that can protect Stafford and allow current Lion Jeff Backus to switch from left tackle to left guard, Detroit’s offense would have the potential to be very explosive, considering that the Lions would have the aforementioned talents as well as a solid right side of the offensive line and a stud running back, Kevin Smith. Despite the plethora of defensive needs for Detroit, it still must be a priority for the Lions to find a left tackle early on in the draft that can protect Stafford. If Detroit adds such a player, this Lions offense could be great for years to come. " Check out the rest of his mock

A Scouting
Report on Mark Sanchez
by Raj |
| Pros:
Has the size and athleticism you look for in a quarterback. Tremendous mechanics and footwork. Steve Sarkisian (USC’s former offensive coordinator) said of Sanchez that he is the hardest working quarterback he’s ever coached. Is a true student of the game, and shows that attention to detail and leadership quality that you look for in a franchise signal caller. |
| Cons:
Has not had enough experience at USC as a starter. Durability could be an issue with him. Has a great offensive line and is surrounded by many playmakers, so some may wonder how he will fare upon adversity. Does have a tendency to hold the ball to long at times in the pocket. Will definitely benefit from another year at USC to show NFL scouts his potential. |
| Overall:
A great NFL-prospect that seems to have the ability to make all the necessary throws at the next level. Some NFL scouts have even compared his quick release and delivery to Troy Aikman. Although, it obviously remains to be seen if Sanchez lives up to that kind of billing, he projects to be a early to mid-first round draft pick if he chooses to declare. |

A Scouting
Report on Knowshon Moreno
by Tom Matthew |
| Pros:
Great latteral speed, cuts on the dime. Great on punt return. Perfect ratio of speed and strength. Phenominal vision and intuitive decisions. Outstanding ability to break tackles and make defenders miss. Precise and confident under pressure. |
| Cons:
The only negative aspect to his game is his size. Moreno lacks the NFL's ideal size but certainly makes up for it with his power. |
| Overall:
Knowshon Moreno has the speed, strength, and ability to finish a run through, and gets up right away to get to his next touch. He is the top RB prospect this year and will make an immediate impact on the league next year. Projected to be taken some where in the teens but will instantly have a positive effect on whatever team takes him. |

A Scouting
Report on Michael Johnson
by Christian Cole |
| Pros:
He's coachable, but not a real film rat. Before this season, Michael Johnson was a pure pass rusher, but he's shown he's able to play both the run and the pass well. He's huge with long arms and big hands. He's a good athlete overall. He's got great initial burst. He's strong enough to push his blocker backwards. He has shown an adeptness of pass defense after being dropped back into pass coverage. He does a great job in pursuit and does well containing the quarterback. He's too fast for a quarterback to escape. He comes off his block fairly well.
|
| Cons:
He isn't known as a leader. He doesn't look real comfortable in his body. Kind of like when a kid grows up really fast, they're a bit awkward doing sports. Has had issues with cramping and fatigue. He's still extremely raw in diagnosing plays, doesn't recognize plays very well at all. He'll get stuck in traffic if the plays is on his side. In run defense, he's a bit too explosive off the ball and will take him out of plays. Doesn't display a great tackling form, just tends to fall on a player.
|
| Overall:
Overall, Michael is like playdoh. He's got loads of potential, but also some big holes that could lead to him being a bust. He could become one of the elite defensive ends in the league one day, but coaching will be critical to him. He'd likely be best served by sitting for a year getting even stronger and working on techinique. However, most teams are unwilling to wait a year, so he'll be thrust into action. Because of his impressive physical abilities, he'll be drafted high with the hope that he can become an elite defensive end.

Another great 2010 NFL mock draft is by Matt Chase.
St. Louis is picking second and Matt has
them picking Jason Smith, OT, Baylor .
Chase says
"The Rams made it clear last year when they vested so much interest in Jake Long that they wanted to get better and younger at OT. Now that they have finally released Orlando Pace it is almost a certainty that they will be drafting an OT with their #2 pick. Because I have Stafford going #1 the question is who do they take: Jason Smith or Eugene Monroe? Part of me says it is better to take Monroe because he has a lower floor and will at worst be a highly productive L OT. However, Jason Smith has a real special upside and I think a team like the Rams will fall in love with it. The former TE has a great 6’5 frame, long arms and tremendous athleticism. He plays very light on his feet and moves very well laterally. His ceiling is much higher than Eugene Monroe’s and he projects to be a very talented L OT in the NFL. With all of that being said he isn’t as safe as a pick as Monroe or OLB Aaron Curry. However, I think St Louis is in a position to grab their highest rated player, and I think that player will be Jason Smith. "

Bryan Pinkston adds to the mock drafts with his 2010 NFL mock draft. Kansas City is picking third and Pinkston has
them picking Aaron Curry, OLB, Wake Forest.
Pinkston reports
the following on the Chiefs pick...
"Do not have a strong presence at ILB for their new 3-4 scheme so Pioli can be at ease knowing he is taking the best player available that coincidently fits a position of need. Curry can do everything a team could want in a LB, and he does it all better than everyone else on a consistent basis. He's an outstanding tackler who can consistently shed blocks, which is fast becoming a lost art in the NFL. He has great instincts in coverage, keeping himself in position to intercept an imperfect pass. He's also a great blitzer. Curry is just the guy to stabilize the middle of the field for the Chief for a long, long time. "
