Explanation of Pick |
| Ndamukong Suh | Suh makes a world of sense and is an area of need. Detroit has a few building blocks on defense and Suh will help Sims and Peterson reach their full potential. | | Russell Okung | Everyone has been saying that it's going to be Suh, and while I think Suh is an amazing player, Okung is going to be the pick. They need a star tackle too much and the DT talent is better than the OT talent early in round 2. They could take Suh, but I dont think they will. | | Ndamukong Suh | While I do believe that Ndamukong Suh is the most talented player in this draft, McCoy is the better fit for Detroit. In a division with great runners like Adrian Peterson, Ryan Grant, and Chester Taylor, they need a guy who can plug the wholes and not give up the big gains. | | Ndamukong Suh | Detroit wants out of this pick desperately because they can get a quality tackle 5-10 picks later and save millions. Throw out Jimmy Johnson's old value chart because it's meaningless in the current economic climate. In the end they decide to stay put and provide the best protection for The Franchise. | | Ndamukong Suh | After they trade for Haynesworth (34th Overall pick) they don't need a DT, so Suh is out. Okung is in. | | Ndamukong Suh | The Lions are still in the running for Albert Haynesworth, which would change this pick from Suh to Okung. I don't think the trade will go down, so the Lions go with the best player in the draft. | | Ndamukong Suh | When I heard that the GM said to fan "you'll be happy", I knew that Suh was the Lions pick. I like the pick but I just hope that he plays up to his potential, Detroit needs it. | | Ndamukong Suh | Suh is the best player in the draft and fills a position of need. | | Ndamukong Suh | Update: Take Suh even though need LT more. All Det thinks it will be Suh so why should I be so different. They will ruin their QB though.
Though Coach Schwartz made his bones w Haynesworth as his DT in TN and DT is obviously the best atop the draft, he will ruin Stafford if they leave him unprotected. Okung gives them stability on his blindside, and they likely think weak current LT Backus will suffice inside at LG. Update: they did just add Sims at LG, which creates some doubt about moving Backus inside. I still think this is an imperative pick. They ruined Harrington permanently, threw off his timing and every nuance of what made him a high pick. They will do the same if they don't take Stafford's protection seriously. Seriously... | | Ndamukong Suh | How can the Lions not afford to take the best overall athlete in the draft? Suh is a strong defensive lineman and with the addition of Kyle Vanden Bosch on the line, Detroit will finally have stability on at least one piece of the puzzle that is their team. |
Data for this analysis is from the members in the
Mock draft challenge. Only the drafts which have been updated in the
