| Pros: Fast, real fast...but from the combine times we can see that this year's draft class is truely elite. Here in slaton we get a fast, elusive, and very quick running back with exceptional hands that can line up in the slot and catch some passes. Very great open field runner than can read defenders hips very well, while in motion. |
| Cons: Mental lapses his junior year along with nagging injuries hampered his production; not to mention the 8-9 man fronts Slaton seen his jr. campaign didnt help much. Slaton needs to learn to be more productive between the tackles looks to take the home run every touch. |
| Overall: Overall this back is a solid first rounder that will fall middle second to early 3rd. If he stayed out his senoir year and had another soph year Slaton would be a easy top 10 pick. His jr slump hampered his stock along with his size, but he showed that adding 10 pounds of muscle did not hamper his speed to much, given time slaton could become a cheap mans reggie bush and if he falls out of the second round...somebody just stole fort. knox... |

|
| Pros: Breakaway speed, with the elusiveness, and vision to go the distance anytime he touches the ball. Decent hands to make catches out of the backfield. A tough runner for his size. Has the mental makeup to last in the NFL. A smaller Brian Westbrook. |
| Cons: Might struggle to adjust to pro formations. Needs to add 10-15lbs. to his frame for pass protection, and inside running. |
| Overall: Outside of McFadden, Slaton is the best runner in the draft, and depending on where he goes could be starting from Day 1. Will be an running/receiving threat for years to come. |
|
|
| Pros: Great straight line speed, Good hands, Elusive in the open field, Good acceleration, Once he finds the hole he is gone. |
| Cons: Had an injury bug missing time each of the past 2 seasons, missed some easy reads during jr. season, sometimes tries too hard to get the edge instead of getting the tough couple yards. |
| Overall: Still a good prospect despite sub-par numbers during jr. season. If he can stay healthy Slaton shouldn't have a problem staying in the league for 10 yrs. May never get full load but will be an excellent 3rd down back |

Steve Slaton
Scouting Report by B-RAD |
| Pros: He is as fast as lightning. He has the break away speed to take the ball for a touchdown anytime he touches it. He is an excellent team player as he showed at WVU sharing carries with Noel Divine. |
| Cons: Tends to not be in the game mentally when he does not get early carries. Needs to learn how to pass block |
| Overall: If he goes in the late second round or early third round like some experts say he will, then that team will most definitely be getting a top 10 overall draft handed to them. STEAL!!!!! |
|
|
| Pros: hes the next warrick dunn in the making. a small versatile back with breakaway speed. in fact he might be faster than dunn in his prime. |
| Cons: his size could give him some trouble early in his career. he will go through some growing pains adjusting to running the ball out of the backfield in the nfl. considering almost everything they do at WV is out of shotgun. |
| Overall: great player who should be a top 10 pick. look for him to be racking up 1,000 yards easily after his rookie season. |
