Pros: Road grader; doesn't just engage, moves people. Looks for contact. Versatile player; experience playing FB, TE, H-back. Decent hands. Excellent balance. Deceiving quickness at 260lbs.
Cons: Can be too emotional which causes him to "overplay". Hard to place at the pro level because of WVU spread offense. Tends to get a little when engaging some blocks.
Overall: Owen Schmitt is a very versatile player that plays with an old school smashmouth mentality and has the necessary skills to succeed at the next level. He should be one of the first 3 FBs off the board. Projected round: 2nd - 4th round.
Pros: A big, strong fullback. He blocks exceptionally well and this kid plows over everything in his path whether he's blocking or running he helped lead one of the best rushing offenses in college. Big fullback
Cons: Not the fastest fullback out there but makes up for it in his ability to break tackles. Average hands.
Overall: He blocks very well and can create huge holls for runningbacks. He's big and very strong and would be a great help to any running game in the NFL.
When the Seahawks drafted two Schmitts in last weekend's NFL draft, the team made immediate fans of the Schmitt family of Bedford, Ind. Rich and Leslie Schmitt have a son and daughter by the names of -- you guessed it -- Owen and Tylor, respectively.
