Pros: Has the size and athleticism you look for in a quarterback. Tremendous mechanics and footwork. Steve Sarkisian (USC’s former offensive coordinator) said of Sanchez that he is the hardest working quarterback he’s ever coached. Is a true student of the game, and shows that attention to detail and leadership quality that you look for in a franchise signal caller.
Cons: Has not had enough experience at USC as a starter. Durability could be an issue with him. Has a great offensive line and is surrounded by many playmakers, so some may wonder how he will fare upon adversity. Does have a tendency to hold the ball to long at times in the pocket. Will definitely benefit from another year at USC to show NFL scouts his potential.
Overall: A great NFL-prospect that seems to have the ability to make all the necessary throws at the next level. Some NFL scouts have even compared his quick release and delivery to Troy Aikman. Although, it obviously remains to be seen if Sanchez lives up to that kind of billing, he projects to be a early to mid-first round draft pick if he chooses to declare.
