Jamaal Charles Scouting Report by 2P
Pros: Fastest running back in the draft. Great vision, reminds me of a Walter Payton. Tough runner who can run though tackles. Key note: His feet and legs never stop moving, sign of great running back. Can catch the pig skin out of the back field. Good north and south runner with on demand change of direction. Should be late 1st rounder early second.
Cons: Ball security. But the good thing is he's going to the NFL that can be fixed. Needs to work on changing hands with the ball while in route, ball should be in the nearest hand to the side line.
Overall: Grade A back behind Mc Fadden should be a great pick for a team hurting at running back. Charles has a golden possession, and we are not talking about and egg. Something you just can't teach "SPEED".
Jamaal Charles Scouting Report by Houston Banker
Pros: Speed Kills! This guy will fly up the board based on his combine. While the video highlights of his big plays in football are fun to watch, check out the videos of him running the 100 meters in track and field in the big twelve meet his freshman and sophomore years. He has great running form. Very explosive. A different gear the last 50 meters. Good hands.
Cons: He had some early season ball security issues. Looked for the big play too much.
Overall: He will be maybe the fastest player in this draft. He is a threat to go 80 yards every time he touches the ball. Good size. Homerun hitter who has learned to take what is there. Another Golden Triangle star.
Jamaal Charles Scouting Report by aaron emerson
Pros: faaaaast! good vision and burst to get in and out of holes quickly. shifty runner with excellent juke moves in and out of traffic. breaks tackles effortlessly with slippery style.
Cons: ball security is an issue. improved this year but still a concern. tends to be injured frequently throughout the season. does not move the pile. undersized. hands?
Overall: still learning the rb postition but a solid runner nonetheless. could be a gamebreaker in the right scheme. mid-round draft choice who could go higher if a GM has plan and a vision for his talents.
Jamaal Charles Scouting Report by TexasEyeBalls
Pros: Elite quickness and pure speed; has ability to make defensive players miss in close quarters; plays a lot stronger than his 6'1", 205lb; ability to break tackles; great hands.
Cons: Probably needed his senior season at Texas to perfect his craft and add another 5lb.; catches "fumblelitis" from time to time.
Overall: Charles has great up side; a definite gamebreaker that will have to be accounted for by opposing defenses; can stretch a defense from any skilled position.
Jamaal Charles Scouting Report by Lesley Harmanson
Pros: Fastest back in nation, has game changing ability, has great feet work. The best steal in the 2008 draft.
Cons: He has a problem with fumbles.
Overall: After McFadden is pick Jamaal would be the best choice.
