Pros: There is no substitute for all out hustle and competitiveness, and Jake will deliver both on a consistent basis. Has the brute strength to mask his athletic struggles and can blow his entire side of the line with his power when he drives with his feet. Has the intelligence to read defensive schemes and work with the other linemen to correctly diagnose assignments. Can shuffle his feet and shadow pass rushers with his hands when he jolts them with his initial punch.
Cons: He might need to be moved back to the right side where he can best utilize his strength and hide his lack of athletic ability. He is a waist-bender who is often caught off balance from not playing over his feet, causing him to whiff and end up on the ground when trying to block in space. He does not have the speed necessary to cut off elite speed rushers. His footwork must also maintain consistent as he does tend to stop his feet in pass pro, causing him to get beat too often by secondary moves. Completely lacking the COD necessary to re-direct and find his blocks downfield.
Overall: The big question for whoever drafts Jake will be which side to put him on – He could be All-Pro on the right side, but teams always covet the LT that can protect the QB blind-side, and whoever drafts him needs to be willing to come to terms with the fact that he does not have the athleticism necessary to as dominant on the left side as his hype would suggest. There is no questioning his competitiveness or love of football on the other hand, another trait that all teams desire from their linemen. He has that nasty edge that makes him play through the whistle and consistently initiate contact, knocking defenders off their line and stopping them in their tracks. He would be an absolutely perfect fit for Kansas City and their tough, bulldozing style, but Long may not last until the 5th pick. While he and the other Long in the draft is probably the closest there is to a sure thing, teams must understand what they are getting with him, and put him in a position to succeed and make the biggest impact possible, and not force another potential Robert Gallery situation.
Pros: JAKE LONG ONLY ALLOWED 1 SACK THIS SEASONat Michigan. He is a good pass blocker and a beter run blocker. all most each run was 4 yards per carry he is a three year starter at Michigan. He can lock on to defenders.
Cons: He worked on hes foot work offseason and made them in to great foot work now he a All American .He a top5 pick and the chiefs might of get him award the line men of the year
Overall: If never beat to the out side and might be hard to hang on to Jarred Allen He has no weakness can play left takle and Right Takel
