Pros: Darius Butler is the best man-to-man coverage corner in this draft. In a weaker draft class Butler would be a Top5 pick. The most athletic prospect in the 09 draft. Butler measures in at almost 5"11 and has a 43inch vertical. At the combine he did not run well but displayed his true athleticism at his pro-day by running in the 4.3's. Mike Mayock believes he could be the first cornerback taken in this draft. Darius Butler will be an All-Pro in a couple years. He is so good in coverage that he did not register an interception in the 08 season because QB's stayed away from his side of the field. He is the most versatile prospect in this draft. He is a shut-down corner, he can return kicks and play reciever "as long as I do not have to go over the middle."Butler is a willing tackler and has the best hips that I have seen since Deion Sanders and runs so fast that he seems to glide.
Cons: He is full of muscle but not thick in the upper or lower body. I mentioned he does not shy away from tackling but sometimes gets poor angles and his lanky body could cause him to miss some games in a full season.
Overall: This kid is a true athlete but is also a football player. Those two comparisons are not usually in the same sentence for prospects. He had "The Hoody, AKA the Hobo from Foxboro" at his pro-day. If you have BB at your pro-day that is like President Obama meeting "Joe the Plumber" at work to see how the average man works. I truely believe he will be available at #23 when the New England Patriots pick so you have to ask yourself one question? Was Bill B. at Butler's pro-day to have Butler rise to the top of the draft so one of the good linebackers falls to #23 for the Patriots. I believe Darius Butler is a can not miss prospect whom will look for six like Ed Reed when he intercepts the ball.
