| Pros: Smart, heady player. Quick release, and extremely accurate, especially on the short to intermediate routes like the quick out and 15 yd. dig. Moves well in the pocket, displaying the mobility to step up and slide to avoid pressure and buy time. Leads receivers well and places the ball in time with their breaks and route running. A natural, fierce competitor, with excellent leadership skills and the respect of his teammates. Possess good ability to read and diagnose coverages, overall smart, emotional, and savvy leader, with the potential to succeed in the right offense. Has moved on and repaired past issues, becoming and local idol in Hawaii. Threw well at the combine, and was credited with 100% accuracy. |
| Cons: Slight and skinny frame, with the potential to add more muscle and weight. Recently bulked up an additional 22 lbs. for the combine weigh in. Must protect the ball better when scrambling as lack of care resulted in several fumbles during the course of his career. Has experience working from behind center at Mater Dei, but must improve footwork and pick up on all the nuances of the professional game. Arm strength has been questioned, and Brennan needs a solid pocket to step into the deep out and fade patterns, but has displayed good ability in college to go up top. Unique pass delivery (a 3/4 motion) has been questioned, but overall has yet to pose much of a problem with batted down passes. Had some injury concerns in the 2007 season, and some question whether his smallish frame will hold up in the NFL. |
| Overall: Brennan is an intriguing prospect at the quarterback position. Teams will like his intangibles, leadership skill, and unprecedented accuracy. If Brennan works to improve his strength, and work on his footwork, and with the right coaching and system, he could develop into a starter a couple of years down the line. Capable and willing to learn, look for some team to possibly get a mid to late round gem. PROJECTION: (3rd-5th rounds) |

|
| Pros: Holder of several NCAA 1A passing records, Brennan knows how to throw the ball. He is accurate, gets the ball out quickly and has good pocket presence allowing him to buy extra seconds. He can throw effectively downfield. His experience in the run-and-shoot has made able to make quick reads.
He's a tough team leader who returned for his senior year even though his draft stock was high in 2007. He learned the position from one of the best QB mentors in June Jones. |
| Cons: He has only average size for an NFL QB. He's had a couple of concussions and fought an ankle injury his senior year, missing significant time. His three-quarter release may scare away some coaches.
Stigma as a "system QB" may hurt his stock. He had off-field issues at Colorado but he seems to have put that behind him. The Sugar Bowl disaster was not entirely his fault, but because of the exposure, this too could hurt his stock. |
| Overall: Brennan is better than his predecessor, Timmy Chang (who himself holds a bunch of Div IA passing records), but the things that limited Chang (lack of snaps over center, lack of game management experience, lack of good NFL size) may haunt Brennan in the NFL.
His Heisman stock leveled off at the end of the season, but he's a gamer who brought his team back to victory twice on the road and once against a PAC-10 team.
His accuracy and leadership qualities should keep him on people's draft boards, but he is not blue-chip caliber right now. |

Colt Brennan
Scouting Report by KennyG |
| Pros: Great leadership qualities and his pass efficiency are two of his best traits. Brennan is the top qb for most of the NCAAA Div 1-A career passing records which proves that Colt can produce. Brennan has good vision, a quick release and knows how to spread his passes around. Good athlete who can run away from pressure. Compared to Dallas Romo & Arizona Warner. Brennan is one of the top 4 qbs in the 2008 NFL draft. |
| Cons: Needs to put on 20+ lbs of muscle to be able to take the NFL pounding. Spent most of his snaps from the shotgun so Colt needs to readjust to the NFL style of quarterbacking. His performance against BCS teams were so-so and may need more seasoning before being considered a qb starter. Brennan is 25 years old, so he may be off the chart for some NFL teams. |
| Overall: In time, Brennan could be some NFL starter. Colt has the intangibles and a live arm to get the ball to the receivers. Talk about not having a strong arm is an over-rated thing as most passing plays are under 20 yards and Colt is deadly in the short passing game. His stack may have drop a tad because of the poor Sugar Bowl and Senior Bowl, but it wan't all his fault, his pass protection was poor against Georgia and he didn't have enough snaps in the Senior Bowl to show his stuff. If he impressed the scouts in the practices and the coming combine, his stock will remain high and he will be drafted on the first day. |

|
| Pros: Has above average accuracy...shows good poise in the pocket...has very quick release...throws a catchable ball with good timing...a leader in the huddle and on the sidelines...knows how to read defenses and go through his progressions...is pretty mobile...makes plays happen when they break down...mature and confident. |
| Cons: Could bulk up a bit...tends to stare down his target at times...forces balls in tight coverages and gambles at times...footwork and taking snaps under center may be a problem at the next level...had some off the field concerns when he was 18, but none since then. |
| Overall: Former walk-on at Colorado where he redshirted as a freshmen.where he redshirted as a freshman..Convicted of first-degree criminal trespass and second-degree burglary in 2004 after he allegedly entered a female students dorm room. But since then has owned up to his mistakes and has been open about it. Much more of an elite passer and prospect to ex-Hawaii QB Timmy Chang. If given the proper coaching and commitment, has the ability to run any system. Is well liked and respected by teammates, was voted the starter and team captain in the Senior Bowl. But Brennan is bit of a risky project as there are more questions about his abilities than answers, but overall would be good value in the mid to later rounds. |

Colt Brennan
Scouting Report by Dumer1 |
| Pros: Runs a sight-adjusted pro-style passing offense (not a spread option as some have erroneously stated) and has shown a great ability to read defenses; is incredibly accurate and makes good decisions; plays well under pressure. Has spent three years under a proven NFL head coach--June Jones said Colt is the best QB he's ever coached, remember this is a guy who coached Warren Moon and Jim Kelly. |
| Cons: He's too skinny at this point and should try to bulk up. He has a bad habit of not protecting himself or the ball when he scrambles (go to youtube and watch Fresno's Marcus Riley knock Brennan silly). |
| Overall: Colt is underrated because of the David Klingler/Timmy Chang stigma that plagues anyone from a run and shoot system, but he could be a pleasant surprise in the early second round. Consider the Falcons getting McFadden in round 1 and Brennan in round 2, that would be a good step in the right direction for that trouble franchise. Other possibilities include Detroit and Tampa Bay. |
