Chris Johnson Scouting Report by Adrian Coronado
Pros: Speed, speed, speed. Chris Johnson is perhaps one of the fastest RBs to come out of this years draft class. He has an unbeleivable 4.25 40. Is very versatile and has pretty good size, but not great. Has the ability to return punts, kickoffs, and line up as reciever. Through the half way point in the 2007 season, he had 7 Rushing, 4 receiving and 1 kickoff return. This is a guy who may get 3000 all purpose yards, if he stays healthy. Not a typo!
Cons: Durability is a concern. Missed some time last year because of a neck injury. Hasnt proven he can carry the load (started all 11 games as a sophomore and carried the ball only 16.5/game). Goes down on first contact as evident by his 4.0 career yards per carry. Needs to utilize his speed better.
Overall: Chris Johnson is a pretty darn good back. He needs to add some bulk without jeopardizing his speed. Johnson, without a doubt has the gift of speed. Either you have it or you dont, and he does. I would expect him to go in the 3rd round because he may need some time to develop into a well rounded, all down back. The player he reminds me of the most is Michael Bennett.
Chris Johnson Scouting Report by Will Wilson
Pros: If I had to describe this guy in one word it would be: SPEED. He runs a 4.25 40. Reggie Bush ran a 4.33. Chris can also return kicks and punts VERY good. No team wants to kick the ball to this guy. Not the mention the countless times he's single handedly destroyed teams.
Cons: He's a little guy. He needs to add around 10 lbs. If he can become more effective running the ball, he can become a great NFL player.
Overall: Chris Johnson may be a 3-5th round pick to a team that is struggling on special teams and needs a little tweek on their running game. Carolina, Miami, Oakland, and Buffalo might be interested.
Chris Johnson Scouting Report by JLJ
Pros: Incredible Speed and Quickless. Home run threat with each touch. Explosive through the hole. Sets up blocks well. Has a 2nd gear and effectively uses it causing defenders to take bad angles. Elusive in space. Has good hands. Fantastic kick returner. Teams dumb enough to kick to him paid the price. Great team player with excellent atitude. Ran harder during senior year with a greater propensity for breaking tackles and moving the pile.
Cons: Lacks a little size. Could probably add 10 pounds without effecting his speed.
Overall: Excellent NFL prospect. Will likely be a steal and one of the biggest surprises in the 08 draft class.
