Pros: Elite ball-hawking skills. New ACC record holder for most career interceptions. Very quick with above average athleticism. Smooth backpedal and breaks on routes in attacking fashion; always looking to break-up or intercept the pass. Not afraid to come up and take the edge on rushing plays.
Cons: Small stature will immediately get him taken off some teams draft boards. 5-9" means he is a liability against taller possession receivers and will lose his fair share of jump balls. His aggressive nature makes Smith vunerable to double moves and play-action passes that are sold well. Doesn't have flat out speed, quick more than fast.
Overall: All-American cornerback with functional playing speed and top shelf ball skills. Ability to adeptly play both the pass and run as well as zone or man lessen the negative shadow cast by his short stature.
