With Ronnie Brown lost for the season, the Miami Dolphins turned to their aging running back. Ricky Williams showed he's still got it. The 32-year-old Williams rushed for 119 yards and scored three touchdowns, and the Dolphins beat the Carolina Panthers 24-17 on Thursday night for their fourth win in six games to get into the AFC playoff picture.

| Carolina Panthers receiver Steve Smith will play against the Miami Dolphins after being involved in a car accident on the way to the game. A team official said somebody "bumped into" Smith's car Thursday, but said Smith was able to continue to drive to the stadium and is fine. The four-time Pro Bowl pick has 38 catches for 512 yards and three touchdowns this season. |

The Panthers talked a lot in the offseason about returning 21 of 22 starters from last year's NFC South championship team.
But injuries have them down to 16 at the moment.
Although the Panthers have played their best football of the season the past three weeks, the reality is it will be tough to maintain that momentum if they continue to lose star players to injuries.
The Panthers defeated the Falcons 28-19 on Sunday to get to 4-5 entering Thursday night's game against the Dolphins. But they lost Pro Bowl left tackle Jordan Gross—the player the team invested $50 million in during the offseason—to a broken right ankle after he got his leg trapped under a pile in the second quarter. | Carolina linebacker Thomas Davis hopes to remain with the Panthers next season, regardless of the rules surrounding his upcoming free agency. Davis was in the locker room Wednesday, preparing for surgery on Nov. 30 to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Davis was injured in a loss to New Orleans earlier this month, ending his most productive season as a pro. |
