Lelie on His Way Out...
What to do with Lelie
The player hotly rumored to be on his way out of town is Broncos receiver Ashley Lelie. His name has been mentioned in San Francisco and Green Bay. It's all just talk, of course.
It's unclear if there is any connection between this talk and Lelie's decision to skip the first week of the Broncos' offseason workout program to work out on his own in Arizona.
In any case, there is a good chance Lelie will leave Denver after this season as a free agent.
Perhaps Denver should consider trading him. The Broncos are likely to add a starting-caliber receiver, most likely via the draft. Florida's Chad Jackson and Ohio State's Santonio Holmes are the top candidates likely to be available with the No. 15 pick. Denver also could rekindle trade talk with the Packers for Javon Walker. If Green Bay trades Walker, it will be near or during the draft.
It wouldn't be surprising if Denver makes another run at Walker and offers Lelie in a package to the Packers - who, with or without Walker, need wideouts. Lelie is a great deep threat, but he doesn't seem to fit Denver's system.
If no receiver is brought in, Lelie will be part of Denver's plans this year. But if a receiver is brought in, Lelie's absence from the offseason workouts might be the beginning of the end of his stay in Denver.
I am the biggest Ashley Lelie fan the in country. If he were to leave Denver I would be very upset. This is seriously a very sad day for me when i read this.

Why would Greenbay want to trade Javon Walker. Is it his contract and the injury or something because he is a good wr and trading him for Leilie and probably a second round pick doesnt make a lot of sense to me unless its because of the injury or the contract.

I wouldnt be surprised at all to see Lelie leave via trade. It is very likely that the Broncos moved up to the 15 spot to take WR, and that would create a log jam with the pick, Rod Smith, and Lelie. Sorry Bowler, but this wouldnt surprise me at all.

Yea i think the Broncos will draft Chad Jackson and that probably means that Leilie could be on his way out. But like i said i dont think that they will bring in Walker in return for Leilie.

With Denver...you never know?
I live in Denver & actually write some fantasy articles. I hadn't heard about the Lelie deal, but it does make sense. For years now, we've been told that he was the Next hottest thing. Well, Rod Smith continues to reign supreme in Denver. Lelie is a great deep threat, but Denver's offense isn't setup for the Culpepper bomb! Here is my thought...
Trade Green Bay the following:
PLUMMER, LELIE, The 15th and 22nd 1st round picks+a 2nd
Get in return:
FAVRE, WALKER, and the 5th overall pick.
Packers still get a starting quality QB for another year or two in Plummer while they continue to groom Aaron Rogers. They get a decent reciever and a 2nd round pick for a guy who is threatening to retire (walker). And they desperately need to add impact players...two of the top 22 picks get them that.
Broncos get a chance to bring in a Hall A Famer in Favre. A guy that even if you're a diehard Bears fan, you have to respect. He gets a chance to chase the ring he so desires. It would rekindle his competitve flame. You bring along with him his old buddy & #1 target Walker. And you also get the #5 pick which you use to go out and get the next "franchise" QB. There are 3 in the draft (Leinhart, Young or Cutler).
I think it makes sense on both sides of the ball...I'm partial though.

File that under the category of not happening. That would be the most messed up deal ever.
Oh, and by the way, Walker and Favre arent buddies. Walker has bashed Favre recently because of what Favre said last year during his holdout.

I didn't mean backyard BBQ buddies. I meant successful professional team mates...much like McNabb & TO. Walker was an absolute stud two years ago. And would have had a good year last year with Favre throwing him the ball, but blew his knee up in week one. He is bitter because his team wouldn't give him the security every athlete wants. They would be good again together. But hey, you're probably right. The main thing in the way with this right now is Favre's insistant on only playing for the Packers.

Seriously. We'll trade you a talented, disgruntled, injured WR and a QB that will definitely retire if he's traded for a Pro-bowl QB and a talented young WR.
Anybody want to send their top LB and CB to the Patriots for Ted Johnson and Ty Law?
