Childress does call the plays, you think he walks around with the plays in his hand and talks into the mic just for fun? Not saying he doesn't get input from Bevel. Tarvaris is not a good QB, at times he shows potential but right now I wouldn't want to put a playoff game in his hands. Philly will be all over him. Umm incase you didn't notice, since their bye week the only good team they beat was Arizona which I don't consider good and NYG wasn't playing their starters. I was impressed by the win in Arizona but that was about it. They struggled against Detroit and GB. As far as Indy vs. SD they both have struggled against bad teams but with SD blowing out TB and Denver in the final two games to get in. Indy has won that many in a row and have beat a couple good teams along the way but the way that SD looks like they have gotten their stuff together is why I think they are hot right now. It is my opinion and for you to call me out is pretty stupid and ignorant.

First off, this is nothing personal. I'm not "calling you out" I'm disagreeing with your post. There is nothing ignorant about disagreeing with your opinion at all. You have an opinion, I have an opinion. If you think I'm ignorant because I don't agree, then I don't see why you post on a message board. This is the point, to discuss things, people aren't always going to see eye to eye, and to call another person ignorant for disagreeing with you is just ridiculous.
Second off, you're over analyzing everything. Your focusing way too much on each game individually not seeing the whole picture. I can do the same with the Eagles, pointing out such and such game (such as the ever so important Washington game that they only scored 3 points in) and make a definitive statement about the team off of. However that just isn't accurate.
To call a team pathetic based off of games that they won in the NFL is just sad. It is an accomplishment to win any given week and not an easy task. You point out the fact that the Vikings barely beat the Giants "JV team" (which is just stupid, considering the Giants are arguably the deepest team in the NFL) however you fail to recognize that the Vikings were BEATING the Giants starters after the first half.
Then you go on to point out that the Vikings wins are all close games. Well not only does that show character, and prove them as a clutch team, but also bodes well considering the team their going up against. In games that are decided by a single score (8 points or less) the Eagles are 1-5-1. When you consider the poor redzone efficiency by the Eagles, it makes sense. The Eagles struggle at putting the ball in the endzone when they need it most, and considering their up against one of the top redzone defenses in the league, that doesn't bode well for the Eagles. Those 2 things tell me that the Eagles will need a couple of big plays early in the game, to get to an early lead, or else things don't look promising.
You also can look at the fact that the Eagles are 3-4-1 on the road this year, and the Vikings are 6-2 at home. The 2 losses the Vikings faced at home were to 2 of the top teams in the league in Indianapolis and Atlanta, and both those games the Vikings controlled for most of the game, but shot themselves in the foot (with turnovers vs. ATL and dropped passes and poor play calling in the oppositions side of the field vs. IND) in those games which ended up costing them each game.
As far as the play calling goes, Bevell is the main play caller, however Childress does have a heavy impact on it. And regardless of who's calling the plays, it's been very clear that it has improved considerably over the coarse of the season. It's not fancy, and it's not very "cutthroat", but its effective and consistent.
And as far as Jackson goes, I'm still very reserved about relying too much in his abilities. However, his revival over the past 4 games has really been heavily underlooked for a reason I don't seem to understand. After he played very well against the Lions, people wanted to see him repeat the performance. After he repeated it, and played great against the Cards, people wanted him to see him do it against a better defense. When he played fantastically against the Falcons, people pointed at the fact that the team lost, and that he "fumbled" 3 times, despite only 1 of those fumbles really being his fault. And they wanted him to see him comeback in a game and win it, when down by a few scores, which he does the following week against the Giants, but people point to his struggles in the first half and to the fact that it was against some of the Giants backups.
It just seems that nothing is good enough to the media and many fans as far as this kid goes. Look at his stats in the last 3 and half games: 57/89 740 yards 8 Tds 1 Int and a 116.6 QB rating. Most other QBs post those kinds of numbers and people are excited to have them at QB. Not to mention his 76 rushing yards against the Falcons and has had a great 3rd down efficiency. Infact, in these 4 games, his QB rating hasn't been lower than 85! That's fantastic. I agree I'm still a little bit nervous watching him play, worrying he reverts back to the "old TJack". But the kid is young, and has shown significant improvement.
And regardless, this team has won all year long with poor QB play. This team is not reliant on it's QB to be successful, the QB play and stupid mental errors are the only thing holding this team back from being a force in this league. But they are far from pathetic. They are not the "sexy" pick going into the playoffs, because of the style of football they play. They are not fancy, they rarely blow out teams, and they don't have the big passing game that fans love. However they are consistent, and hard nosed, and they know how to pull out wins, even when it doesn't seem likely. They are very good as a "team". When one player is struggling, another play picks up his game. If the offense is struggling to put points on the board, the defense finds a way to do it. If the passing game is in effective, the running picks up the slack and vice versa.
I'm a Vikings fan, so you may consider me to be a homer. However anyone who knows me on this board would know that's far from the truth. I'm not as pessimistic as most Viking fans (the kind that have hated Brad Childress for no intelligent reason or the same that have never had faith in Tarvaris Jackson because of his limited play early in his career). But I'm not one to make excuses for a team, or fool myself into believing the team is good when it really isn't. But the fact of the matter is, this is a very solid team, and one that people shouldn't take lightly in the playoffs. In the end, I think playoff inexperience will be the main thing that holds them back from a real push, but at the same time, I think they'll do more damage than most people give them credit for going in.
