Default Week 9 Thoughts

This thread has been a way for a while. Figured I would bring this back.

- Good win by the Jets. Going into Buffalo and winning that game was big for this team. I said this last week. What impressed me the most about this team was after the Favre Pick 6. They got the ball with all the momentum in Buffalo's favor and they marched down the field and put the game away with a FG. Thats one of those drives that could be a turning point in a teams season. I was very imppressed with that drive. The Jets do 2 very important things well. Stop the run and get to the QB.

- Dallas looks like a team that really just needed to get into their bye week. You knew the Giants were ready to beat up on them and its hard to expect Dallas to win that game. They need to get healthy and get going. They have to make to the Playoffs.

- I'll say it again. The Giants are the best team in the NFL. They continue to go out there and get the job done. They had some turnovers but they still one 35-14. They love not getting respect and they feed off of it. There winning the NFC East. Lock it up.

- Watch out for Philly. They toughed it out through their struggles early on and are 5-3 right now with the G-Men coming in. Golden oppurtunity for the Birds to make a statement.

- Great job by Miami. Everything Bill Parcells touches turns to gold. The man doesnt just know how to run a team. He knows how to run an organization. There is a difference. Chad Pennington might be the most underrated QB in the NFL. Say what you want about him. He wins games.

- I think Derek Anderson's time as the Browns starting QB is all but over. We should be seeing Brady Quinn real soon.

- How about Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan. It's been a while before we have seen first round draft picks at the QB posistion come in and play well right away.

Keep saying it and I'll keep refuting it.

This team is overrated terribly right now. I keep hearing nothing but how great the Giants are, but they did not play a good game Sunday, particularly on offense.

How hard was it to stop Dallas's offense? It wasn't hard at all. Brad Johnson gave the Giants the game despite Eli trying to give it right back.

All 3 Dallas INTs led to touchdowns. That's the 21-point margin of victory right there. Throw in the fact that a bad pass by Johnson led to a TO fumble inside the red zone and Dallas wins this game without Johnson and Bollinger on the field.

Eli was pitiful, much like he's been the past month. Still, everyone swears he's an elite QB. He's not even close. Every pass he throws is up for grabs. The Giants WRs do not get enough credit for their abilities.

Dallas' defense played good football for a majority of the first half, but got wore down from simply being on the field way too long. A defense can only do so much when the offense won't help them out.

The Titans would embarrass the Giants. New York is a good team, but they aren't great and they're terribly overrated. They're much like their QB.

I don't see how people are so overly impressed with the Giants when they watch them play. I've watched almost every game they've played this season and the offense does nothing for me past the running game.

Are you sure about that? You wanna say there better. Ok you can make that argument but embarress them? I dont see that happening.

The Giants are good. They very much like the Titans win the game on the line of scrimmage. It starts up front in the NFL and both teams are strong there.

The Giants just go out there and take care of buisness. I here every week how if this would have happened or if this would have happened they would have lost. To bad that stuff never seems to happen.

The Giants can beat you in so many different ways. They have a strong group of WR's. Earth, Wind, and Fire at the RB posistions and a QB in Manning who makes big plays when the games are on the line. There also the best at getting after the QB in the NFL and that takes a world of pressure off of the rest of your Defense and they do a good job at stopping the run as well.

I love these arguments over who the best team in the NFl that happen every week, b/c of the fact some people are so passionate about them (not picking on you 2, just saying in general) when the fact reamins that the discussion is so pointless. If the last few years have proved anything its that being "proclaimed" the best team in the NFL at some point in the regular season and $1.00 will get you a can of soda. All that matters in the NFL is getting into the play-offs b/c once you do anything can happen.

Honestly and I kno I am going to get laughed at for this but I think the team that needs to be watched out for is the Colts. Peyton is getting healthy again and getting his timing back with his WR's. Addai and Bob Sanders are back heathly. The Titans are going to no doubt win that division but the Colts will get in the play-offs IMO and if tey do they are a dangerous team, the can score points and have "been there before" and know what it takes to win in the play-offs. BUt hte Colts hopes depend 100% on them staying healthy.

And I kno I am going to be called a homer for this pick but a team to look out for in the NFc is the Packers, yes they lost a heartbreaker to Tennessee this week, but its a game they could've and probably should've won on the raod against what some people call "the best team in the NFL". They are still in their division race so they could end up hosting at lesat one play-off game. Their offense can be explosive and Aaron Rodgers is only going to get better as he gets more game experience and he has the best WR core in football to throw the ball to and their running game is starting to get going again. Also the defense is getting healthy is playing better and better each week. Again staying healthy is the main factor here for GB's success.

Also on another note I think Detriot may have blown thier chance of winning a game this year when they let the Bears win that game this week. Their schedule down the stretch here is a daunting one and lets face it that team stinks. I think we are looking at the first ever 0-16 team in NFL history (I kno the buccaneers had an 0-14 season before o i know it won;t be hte first totally defeated season the nfl history)

I think the Packers will need to win their next two games. If they do, then I think they're in good shape to finish with give or say 10 wins. Of course they're finally healthy so that might be why they played toe to toe with Tennessee.

I like the Giants. I don't know Cubbs. They might not be the best team in the league, but they did win the Super bowl last year with basically that entire offense. Defensively they lose Osi, Wilson, Strahan, and Mitchell and they're rock solid yet. Arguably better. I think they're one of the three best teams in the NFC with Carolina and Washington.

Jets need to get better play out of Brett Favre if they're going to win the division. I like Favre, but he's playing like he did under Mike Sherman and that's not a good thing all the time.

Tennessee is the best team in the league right now, but their passing game worries me.

Tonights game with Pittsburgh and Washington might help me with a Super Bowl pick. I think both teams are legit contenders.

Well I think the Monday night game just makes my case stronger. I dont like to put to much stock into one game but........The Giants did go into Pitt and beat them and Washington had Pitt at home and couldnt get the job done. They also faced Leftwhich for a whole half and let him put that game away. Thats something I dont think the Giants would have let happen.

With Washington on its bye and the Giants playing Philly this game IMO is the rest of the NFC Easts last stand against the Giants. If they win this game they are going to win the NFC East. Thats just my prediction but with this win they would be 2 up on Washington and Philly and Dallas would be basically out of it. Now anything can happen but if the Giants get to 8-1 they should win 12 games JMO. So that would put the Eagles out of it and and I already think Dallas is out of it. The Giants would then have 1 game left against each of them. 2 away and 1 home. I dont think Dallas has the mental toughness to go toe to toe with the G-Men. Basically what i'm saying is that if the Giants need that game against Dallas there going to get it. At Washington will be tough and so will Philly but I dont think either of those teams are better then the Giants. I think the only way this division could get real interesting is if the Eagles make a statement this week.
