Default Roy Williams To Dallas, Pacman Suspended

The Dallas Cowboys have acquired WR Roy Williams from the Detroit Lions for a 2009 1st, 3rd and 6th round pick.

Also, CB Adam Jones was suspended indefinitely. Again.

This is a scary good move for the Cowboys. The cost is a little steep, but when Romo comes back, this team is going to be loaded.

The Cowboys were already tough to stop offensively. Adding Roy will only do one of the two things.

Either he'll open up things more for T.O. to finally get some single coverage, or he'll take more balls away from T.O. and set the entire team into a whirlwind of drama.

Maybe I'm a little biased here, but I honestly believe it will be the first option. With Williams, Owens and Witten on the field, someone will always have single coverage and you can't tell me any defense in the league that can defense those three.

On a personal note, I've been watching Roy Williams play since he was in high school. He's nothing short of a Texas football legend, particularly in West Texas. He's a graduate of famed Odessa Permian High School -- better known as the Mojo and the topic of the book/movie Friday Night Lights. He belongs in this state and I think his effort will definitely increase being apart of the Cowboys organization. He's home in a way.

Rumors for this trade circulated somewhat around draft day, but neither side gave much credence to them. Jerry Jones really turned up the heat on wanting Williams in the past two weeks. What Jerry wants, Jerry usually gets.

The biggest worry now for Dallas is obviously the secondary. Terrence Newman is out six weeks. Pacman is gone. The other Roy Williams is still out. Rookie Mike Jenkins is now thrown into the starting lineup. Dallas' pass rush will have to be relentless.

First off: Fantastic move by Jerry Jones. He knows Adam Jones is going to be suspended again, and that the media circus and bad PR will be flowing like wine. So what does he do, trades for a Pro Bowl WR. Brilliant PR move to deflect attention away from Pacman. And it has worked too, almost all the talk has been about Williams, not Jones

On the field: There already werent enough balls to go around with TO, Witten, Barber, Felix Jones and Crayton/Austin. Now you add Roy and there will definitely be a lot of times where someone doesnt get any action. The first time Roy has 6 catches, Witten has 5 and TO has 4, TO will be on a rampage. I dont see this ending well

NyJets30- I dont think Jerry Jones made the Roy Williams trade as a PR move.

Good job by Goodell for suspending Pacman.

I like this trade for Dallas. I think Roy fits in well there. They are giving up a lot however but if Roy produces like we all know he can then Dallas should be fine.

I don't believe in any of this TO won't touch the ball enough garbage for one bit. TO is as excited about this trade as anyone. TO only complains when he's losing, and not getting the ball in key situations. The game recently where TO was thrown to something crazy like 17 times, and he complained afterwards about not getting the ball enough is a great example of this. They lost and he complained that he wasn't getting the ball in key situations. The media blew that up into a whole thing about how TO will whine if he doesn't get the ball 100 times per game.

TO did not complain once last year, despite having games with only 2 or 3 catches. In all reality, when was the last time that an offense had "too many weapons"? That's just not possible

Good move for both teams I think.

Really happy with what we got for him.

I never said that was the entire reason. Jerry has been coveting a big name WR since the off-season. He went after Boldin and Roy back then. However, you are being naive if you think that PR wasnt at least a sizable factor in the timing and execution of the deal. Jerry was very reluctant to give up the 1st rounder. I'm sure the PR factor and Pacmans suspension helped loosen him up

There are a lot of things that go into making trades. But I dont see the Cowboys parting with those type of draft picks because of what happened to Pacman. It was close to the trading deadline. The Cowboys needed another WR and Roy will be their future number 1. If they didnt give up a lot then I could by it more as a PR move. But they gave up a future number 1. I guess I could buy the fact though that maybe it had a little to do with the Pacman situation.

Overrated

Roy Williams is so overrated. I argue about it with Lions fans all the time. I liked him in college and maybe it was Detroit, but I think Dallas gave up way to much and they're going to kick themeselves for it in my opinion.

My game plan against Dallas is simple. Take TO out of the game and make Roy Williams beat me. He won't do it.
