Default Benson Signs With Bengals

Ex-Bears RB Cedric Benson has signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. I am actually a little bit ashamed of myself for not seeing this coming. A guy gets arrested for 2 alcohol related incidents, gets released by his team.....of course he was going to sign with the Bengals. I didnt even think of it. Seriously, This is comedic gold. You cant make this stuff up

On a football note: I doubt he does anything. He's behind Chris Perry and Kenny Watson, plus he wasnt really that great to begin with

I've been watching Cedric play ball since he was a sophomore in high school. Was actually supposed to play linebacker in a scrimmage against him my sophomore season in high school, but got injured the day before the game. He was a phenomenal runner in high school. One of the best in Texas high school history. However, high school is also where things started to go wrong with Cedric.

I'll assume many of you have seen the movie Varsity Blues or even better, Friday Night Lights. Cedric played in the same league with Odessa Permian. He led Midland Lee to three straight state titles. He scored something like 15 TDs in those three championship games. In other words, he was the stud. Everything was handed to him on a silver platter. He never had to worry about any sort of trouble. I have a close friend who spent a lot of time with Cedric's little brother. I'm not going to lie... Cedric got busted by police in Midland several times, but was never prosecuted for anything including times he was found with drugs.

He was protected the same way in Austin at the University of Texas. That protection ends at the professional level and many players who have always been the stud can't handle that pressure after college.. i.e. Vince Young.

I think Cedric has the ability to contribute in a platoon. He can be a good goal line and short yardage back. That said, Cincy doesn't exactly offer many good influences for him. It will be counterproductive.

I read on article where Texas Longhorns players are said to be coddled so much at college that when they get to the NFL they expect everything to be handed to them and it's a shock when it isnt. From reading this it sounds like you read the same article

Haha. I actually didn't. It's just known here. I'm sure it's the same thing that happens at USC or Ohio St.
