Week 2 thoughts
Went well last week... Let's try another...
* Carolina is the 2008 version of the Cardiac Kids. This is the team you never want to give up on and it all centers around Delhomme. The unknown elbow surgery has really given him a "never say die" demeanor.
* The Colts were fortunate. No doubt about that. The Vikings were playing for field goals, though. Brad Childress gets the worst coached game award this week.
* Speaking of bad coaching, Jim Zorn made up for last week's debacle. He finally focused on getting Clinton Portis involved and Santana Moss had one of those games that he'll post 3 or 4 times a season.
* The Rams lost 41-13 and looked better than they did last week. Sad.
* Any doubts about Aaron Rodgers still? How about Jay Cutler? Two quarterbacks with a lot to prove coming into the season have answered the bell in the first two weeks of the season.
* Through two weeks of play, only one thing is certain about the Lions. Calvin Johnson has replaced Roy Williams as the team's No. 1 WR.
* I didn't think it'd be that bad, but the Chargers really missed Shawne Merriman today. That secondary was exposed without the pass rush.
* Randy Moss has checked out. At least he did during Sunday's game. Cassell wasn't looking his way and he stopped running routes. I saw it on several replays of passing plays. He's still the same old, self-centered, pathetic player he's always been. Nothing has changed with him.
* How bad in San Fran's defense? Julius Jones went for 100 yards on them. That's bad. After Pat Willis, there is nothing to get excited about, not even Nate Clements.
* Falcons run game struggles and so does Matt Ryan... not a coincidence.

Kurt Warner, Aaron Rodgers, and Jay Cutler all had huge days at QB.
Brandon Marshall is a beast of a WR. 14 catches here in the 4th quarter. Antonio Cromartie is having a day to forget.
Matt Cassell didn't perform like Tom Brady, but I think he did a good job of managing the game and giving his team a good shot at winning.
Darren McFadden had himself a good game. 164 yards and a TD.
LaDainian Tomlinson really hasn't looked like his old self so far in the season.
The Colts offense struggled bad in the first half.
Carson Palmer had another terrible week. That Titans defense looks relentless.
Santana Moss had a very good day with 191 total yards and a TD.
Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald are tearing apart the Dolphins defense.

Wow. The Denver/San Diego game is nuts. Darren Sproles just took a short pass all the way after Cutler through a pick in the red zone. This should be a fun finish.

Cutler is overshadowing him even though he's currently losing the game, but Phillip Rivers is having a great game with the run game out of whack right now for SD.
I thought this was going to be Rivers breakout season. That's why I picked the Chargers to win it all this season. He's not disappointing me so far.

How bad is the NFC West? This is just going to be an ongoing topic.
I'm sorry, but Seattle just went to OT with a terrible Niners squad and are on the verge of losing. Seattle's defense registered a lot of sacks, but are frankly a bit overrated.
Arizona is easily the team to beat in that division right now. The Cards are not a playoff team in any other division.

I agree the Cardinals are the best team in the NFC West. The Seahawks, at home, are about to lose to the 49ers. This team doesn't look like a contender right now.

Mike Shanahan has some balls. BUT, the Chargers were robbed in this game. I would protest like crazy. This should be a SD win. I was thinking the referee ought to give Chambers the catch with six seconds left even though he was clearly out of bounds, but the Chargers were owed one there. Major screw job. Losing never feels good, but it feels worse when you should have won.

*Aaron Rodgers is for real, as is Greg Jennings. That tandem should keep cheeseheads smiling for a few years
*Calvin Johnson is also the real deal. I love Roy Williams, and I think he's a great receiver. Johnson is this teams #1 though. How bad is Detroits D??????
*Welcome to the NFL Darren McFadden. If the Chiefs win 4 games this year I'll be very surprised
*The Rams are in trouble. That defense is awful. And although Holt had a good day today, they are not giving Steven Jackson the ball nearly enough
*Minnesota wasted a great effort by Adrian Peterson. This game was another example of how you can never count the Colts out as long as Peyton is behind center
*Tennessee continues to impress, especially on D. I was not high on Chris Johnson at all, but he is proving me wrong so far. Cincinnati is just terrible
*The Cardiac Cats are back! Welcome to the NFL Jonathan Stewart
*Buffalo wins again, Jacksonville loses again
*Seattle is in trouble. Cardinals win that division easy
*Chargers definitely got robbed in that game, but man how good is Brandon Marshall??? I would not be surprised if he ends up with 120 catches, 1500 yards and 13 TD's

Week 2 should be known for two things this year: Exciting games (SD vs. Den, Was vs. NO, SF vs. Sea, Ind vs. Min, Car vs. Chi, and Buf vs. Jax) and the emergence of two rookie bad ass RBs (McFadden & Stewart).
Seriously, was it not a good day to be a fan this week? The Redskins looked like they watched last weeks game and said 'Ok, let's do the opposite against the Saints' Of course, I'm a a bit biased, but I liked their resilience (sp?) and it was great seeing dividends being paid from the recent drafts (Horton, Blades, Landry, & Campbell). I'll leave my observations of this game here. Last week I was mute on the Redskins so I don't want to go overboard.
Speaking of teams that battled, did anyone watch the Raiders? They have a habit of keeping their opponent in games, but they fought pretty well. I liked McFadden & Bush out there. They need to spend some time in practice working on ball handling drills, but they both ran well. The Raiders will definitely need them to step up if Fargas is out for any length of time. JaMarcus definitely grew a little today. It wont show on the stat line but he played pretty well.
And now for some shorter thoughts on week 2:
Anyone seen the Rams? I mean, they would be able to increase their annual revenue by literally not showing up to their games instead of just playing like they didnt show up.
Is it me, or does Buffalo actually look like the team to beat in the AFC East?
Psst! Matt Ryan! Welcome to the rest of this season. I hope you enjoyed week 1.
I don't know what I was thinking when I thought Detroit was going to win for a second and that Aaron Rodgers was going to come back to Earth when Detroit took the lead midway through the 4th.
So I got a great idea, lets swap NFC West teams with the top 4 teams from the Pac-10 and see if anyone can tell the difference. At least if we did that, there would be a clear favorite...
Oh, Michael turner, welcome to Atlanta
Do you think Anquan Boldin still would rather be playing for the Dolphins?
It's quite obvious, that as long as you have Peyton under center, you still got a shot.
Tennessee is pretty good. At least their defense is.
And shout outs go to: Eli, Aaron Rodgers, Calvin Johnson, Brandon Marshall, Jay Cutler, and Adrian Peterson

Patriots did not look that good without Brady. However the Jets looked worse. They moved the ball fairly well but couldnt punch it in when it counted. Jay Feely missed a chip shot to start the game. They had 1st and goal at the 3 and couldnt score.
The Cotchery pass interference call really hurt them. It was a bad call and it cost the Jets it least a field goal attempt on that drive. Favre followed that up with a pick and the Pats scored on that drive. In the end I left that game not being impressed with either team. That Patriots not being impressive is understandable but the Jets need to play better then that.
