A couple of injury notes:

* Marion Barber damaged cartilage between his ribs, but didn't suffer a fracture. He should be good to go against Philly next Monday.

* Of course, the Pats are being secretive about Brady's injury. However, one Pats player told a reporter that Matt Cassell was their starting QB for the rest of the year. It's a knee injury for Brady, btw.
Edit: Yahoo Sports is reporting Brady is done for the year.

* Vince Young in on crutches. MRIs scheduled for tomorrow.

Wow, what a difference a day makes. This time yesterday you would have said that the Patriots, Colts and Chargers were the 3 best teams in the AFC (and possibly NFL). 24 hours later the Colts lose at home to the Kyle-Orton-Led-Bears, the Chargers drop a game at home to the Panthers, and the Pats lose Brady for (possibly?) the year.

I think the Chargers and Colts will bounce back and be just fine, but I just thought that was worth pointing out

The Brady injury makes the Jets the favorites to win the AFC East IMO. This of course is all assuming he is out for the year.

i want to throw in some thoughts on how bad the colts looked last night. the o-line was horrible and peyton looked scared to throw the ball deep (that and he didnt really have the time). and the colts still cant stop the run.

I finally saw a replay of the Joe Flacco TD run...

That has to be the slowest 30-plus yard TD run in the history of the game. How bad is the Bengals defense if they can't catch him?

I'm trying real hard to think of something positive to say about the Bengals. The only thing I can come up with is the fact that Keith Rivers and Leon Hall had themselves decent days, and the fact that they still have so much talent in the passing game that it's bound to come together eventually

- Everybody loved the Browns going into this season. They had a good year last year and Anderson looked great. They were everybody's pick to have a good year. I felt that made them a lock to have a dissapointing season. I say 6-10 for them this season. There 0-1 and have to play Pitt at home next week. Thats a huge game for them. If they lose next week you can make a case that this is going to be a bad year for the Browns. They will have lost their first 2 games both at home and then go to Baltimore and Cincy. Thats an easier next two but I dont think its impossible for them to lose a game or two. Then they got the Giants and then at Washington and Jacksonville.

- Phil Simms says that he watched Cassel throw the ball on the sideline and he says he is amazed how Leinhart beat him out at USC to be the starter. Take that for what its worth I guess.

- I think Aarron Rodgers is going to have a big night against the Vikings.

- Maybe some luck has finally started to bounce the Jets way. The AFC East is wide open right now. I think the Jets are just better then the Bills. I think they have better personal. Also at the end of the day you have two QB's. One guy is named Brett Favre and the other is named Trent Edwards. There's the difference.

Nothing...

You just quoted the worst analyst after Merrill Hoge.

Just thought I'd put these here.

Big Name Guys placed on IR:

QB Tom Brady (Patriots)
WR Nate Burleson (Seahawks)
G Vince Manuwai (Jaguars)

Everyone knows what Brady going down does for the Pats. Burleson going on IR actually really hurts the Seahawks. With Deion Branch and Bobby Engram already injured, the Seahawks have nobody to pass to now. Vince going down really sucks, especially being a Jags fans. He was a really good run blocker and this hurts the running game for the Jags, along with the other guys going down. There will be a make shift O-Line next week for the Jags. Barnes and Pashos being the only regular starting 5 left.
