Umenyiora Out For Season
Adam Schefter is reporting that Giants DE Osi Umenyiora tore his MCL and will miss the entire regular season. What a blow to the Giants. I think this all but end their bid to repeat as Super Bowl Champions. Hell, it might keep them out of the Playoffs. They relied heavily on that pass rush to make the mediocre LB's and secondary better. Now without Strahan and Osi that pass rush wont be there. To take Osi's place they are moving Kiwanuka back to DE.

This is indeed a huge blow for the Giants. Osi was arguably their best player. Lots of things that could happen as a result of this. You gotta wonder about moving Kiwi back to DE. This could also open up a door to a possible comeback from retirement by Strahan. Something to think about at least.

I think Strahan will stay retired. He's been pretty clear that he won't pull a Favre. Even using that exact terminology.
I think Umenyiora is the one guy on the team other than Eli Manning the Giants couldn't afford to lose. Face it. New York's biggest weakness is their secondary, but the pass rush put forth by Umenyiora and Co. made up for it.
Tuck is good, but can he do it without a consistent threat on the other side? Is Kiwi really going to be a good pass rusher as well? I think this puts two extra losses on the Giants, making them around .500 in my book. Also puts the Eagles as the second best team in the NFC East and in the playoffs.

Huge blow for the G-Men. Kiwi is a capable pass rusher though and they still have a pretty good offense. I think they will still make the playoffs. I dont see Strahan returning to this team. Kiwi is going to have to step up for them. Its a huge blow because I think its really going to expose their LB's and their secondary which I dont think is really that strong.
Some notes from last nights game.
The Jets were getting massive pressure on all the Giants QB's. Calvin Pace looked very good rushing the passer (2 sacks) and Vernon Gholston might not have gotten any sacks but he was putting pressure on Eli.
The Jets pass protection was very good last night. However there run blocking wasnt that good. I dont know if its there fault or Thomas Jones but somebody isnt doing their job when it comes to the running game. The Jets seem to move the ball better on the ground with Leon then they do with Thomas Jones. So take that for what its worth.
David Carr just doesnt have it. He holds onto the ball way to long and appears shell shocked at QB.
Favre is still not totally in sync with the team yet which is obviously to be expected since he is still learing the termonolgy.
Cotchery and Favre seem to have a little chemistry going.
Bubba Franks has looked terrible so far in preseason and that continued last night.
Jenn Sterger is hot as hell but she is awful at conducting interviews. I know the Jets put her as a sideline reporter because of her looks but jeez you think they would it least teach her how to interview someone. You can tell she likes sports though. She was having fun with the fans on the sideline as well. I can only imagine what they were saying to her.

This just came out:
"Former New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan would consider returning to the team in the wake of Osi Umenyiora's season-ending knee injury, the New York Daily News has reported, citing an unnamed source.
According to the paper, Strahan, 36, who retired in the offseason after helping lead the Giants to a Super Bowl championship, would come back with the Giants if offered an $8 million contract for this season, according to a source close to the seven-time Pro Bowler."

Haha that makes sense. I had a feeling Strahan might do something like that. I doubt he comes back to play. However I guess its possible seeing as he would be able to miss TC again.

Strahan would return for right price?
The News
Following the loss of Osi Umenyiora for the season, Michael Strahan said he would come out of retirement for $8 million, according to the NY Daily News. He was vacationing in Greece when Umenyiora went down over the weekend. Along with the $8 million, Strahan would like "a few kind words" from the team for him to consider coming back.
Our View
Strahan has a favorable broadcasting deal with Fox waiting for him, but we may not have seen the last of No. 92 in New York.
