Vikings get Jared Allen
Watching Path to the Draft on the NFLN and the bottom line says the Chiefs agree to trade Jared Allen to the Vikings.

I like this trade for both teams. Minnesota finally gets a pass rush, but the price was definitely steep. However, they only traded parts of this year's draft, not next years, which is a plus for the Vikes in my opinion.
KC needed picks. The Chiefs are in rebuilding mode. Now, the debate begins about what they're going to do with those picks.
I still feel like a DE is probable with their first pick. I know there are talks about Albert and Ryan, but the Chiefs have one true DE on the roster now with Hali. Turk McBride takes snaps there, but he's not a threat. Honestly, I think one of KC's third round picks needs to be spent on a DE as well. They have to restock the position. KC has five picks in the first three rounds. Don't be shocked if all five are spent on lineman of the offensive and defensive variety.

They need a CB real bad too. KC has a lot of holes so they can go in just about every direction possible.

I read something yesterday on ESPN, that said that saying what team needs are shouldn't be posted. Every team needs players at every position and every position is a need, besides a punter or kicker. He used the Patriots as an example, and showed how they could draft any position. I think the Chiefs should take the best available player with their first pick. Good trade for the Chiefs though.

In a perfect situation, that's a great philosophy. You're going to tell me Jacksonville which has Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor need to spend a first round pick on a running back when they're suddenly thin on the DL?
Everyone says they want to take the BPA, but teams rank the BPA based on who they need. I don't think Matt Ryan is on New England's radar at all. He's probably not even on their board. Why should he be? They want to pay a backup QB that much?
Teams do look at needs. To pretend otherwise is naive.

Solid trade for both sides. Minnesota gets a dominant pass rusher and Kansas City gets some more picks, including #17. I think that with there 2 first rounders, they'll go DE with Long or Gholston, then at 17 go CB or OL.

I'm picturing Long/Gholston at 5, and then Otah/Williams/Albert/Clady at 17. Then a CB like Cason or Reggie Smith in 2nd round

I think KC would jump on Chris long at #5 but I just can't see Al Davis passing on him. I think it's funny that this is the week a report comes out that Davis says he'll pass on Long for Gholston or McFadden. I'm not buying it yet.
If KC can't trade down, they'll reach for an offensive lineman. They're is no guarantee that Otah or Williams fall to 17.
Then at 17 I don't think they'd go with Phillip Merling like some people now think unless his pro day is off the charts next week. Merling isn't that great of a pass rusher in my opinion. Great against the run though at DE. I think they'd take Mike Jenkins, DRC, MeKelvin, or Talib. My guess is Mike Jenkins.
Then at the top of round 2 they have a chance to jump on Lawrence Jackson of USC who should be a 1st round pick in my opinion but for whatever reason he's seems to of dropped.
That's a pretty good start for KC
1A Try and trade down, if not then Clady or Albert is the pick.
1B Mike Jenkins
2A Lawrence Jackson

I might be wrong but I thought I heard that the Vikings made Jared Allen then highest paid defensive player in history with $31 million in guruantess.
Vikings are paying a lot for him but they are getting a very good player.
