The Raiders?
Is it me, or does it seem the the Raiders are doing everything possible in Free Agency to try and justify the potential selection of Darren McFadden? I mean, DL is probably their biggest need and with their draft position, they should be able to get a shot at one of the best prospects in the draft. So why do they insist on signing has beens and mediocre prospects?

Well thats not necessarily true since they did resign Justin Fargas as well (3 yr, 12 mil, 6 mil guaranteed). I think they're just in a win now mode and trying to pretty much sign anybody they can get to come to Oakland

Al Davis is old. He wants to win now and not in the future. So they're obviously going to look to win now and McFadden is probably that guy. If I were them I'd take McFadden. Gives them to good looking young backs for Jamarcus Russell to hand off too.

I've heard mixed reviews on the whole Raiders/McFadden thing. On one hand there's the obvious "Al Davis loves the sexy pick and McFadden is too good to pass up on" argument. On the other hand I've read multiple reports from Lane Kiffin and Oakland beat writers who have said that the Raiders wont take McFadden. They re-signed Justin Fargas to a pretty large deal, and they also still have LaMont Jordan, Dominic Rhodes, and Michael Bush on the roster. The reports I've heard have them taking either Glenn Dorsey, Sedrick Ellis or Chris Long

I read similar things but don't kid yourself. Al Davis will make whatever pick he wants regardless of what Lane Kiffen thinks.

Personally, I think the Raiders need to go DL. I'm not mad at the possibility of them selecting McFadden, as I think it would be pretty sweet, but just look at who they already have on the roster. Albeit, there is no McFadden-type player there, but they definitely have serviceable players. If Davis is in the win-now mode, who's to say that trading down and collecting more picks or going with someone like Long or Dorsey if available isn't going to help them more? Hell, I still don't like the receivers they have on their team, and they lack a solid threat at TE. Wouldn't that help JaMarcus more than adding yet another back to the roster? Hell, I'd rather see Al Davis make a play for Shockey!
