Shaun Rogers to Bengals
for a damn 3rd and 5th round pick... Since when have the Lions drafted a good player in the 2nd round on, let alone the 1st round. If the Lions arent doing this to create cap room then something is seriously wrong with Matt Millen. And now onto Vilma, WHY THE HELL DIDNT THE LIONS OFFER A 4TH LIKE THE SAINTS... the Lions havent had a good MLB since Stephen Boyd (remember him)... this is ridiculous. We just lost arguably our most talented player, prolly Calvin but Shaun was #2 at least, for a 3rd and 5th rounder. If the Lions don't sign some good FA's with this money I am going to go on suicide watch.

You are just now coming to the realization that something is wrong with Millen?

Shaun Rogers is one of the most overrated players in the league anyways unless you like inconsistent players. I just read that he's going to Cleveland for Leigh Bodden and that the Bengals trade was actually overruled by the NFL for some reason.
If that's the case then it's actually a wise move by Millen. He rids himself of someone you can't build a team around and brings in an underrated corner. I know had this debate like last year but I'm sorry, Shaun Rogers is just another wasteful player for the Lions. All the potential in world but I wonder if he'll ever put it together. Maybe Romeo can get the most out of him.

I am alot happier we actually got a need in this trade with Bodden. If Shaun Rogers can put togather a full season at 100% then he's prolly the best DT in the league. This year he only played hard the 1st half of the season. I don't agree that he's a wasteful player, he is when he doesn't put his all into it but Marinelli has gotten more out of him then Mariucci ever did.

no I know he sucks and i hate him with a passion, but Shaun for a 3rd and 5th, along with the Lions draft history is just a plain joke.

And yet it still wasn't enough. I love how Lions' fans keep defending Rogers. Can he be great? No doubt. But he's not. Great players don't quit in the middle of a season.

I called Joey Harringon, Charles Rogers, Mike Williams, and now Shaun Rogers. My next victim is yet to be determine. Got to love Matt Millen and the Lions. If I was right as much as I am about Detroit then I'd probably have a job in the NFL. Wrong about other stuff but I know me some Lions.
For the record
John Henderson, Vince Wilfork, Kevin Williams, Pat Williams, Jamaal Williams are all better than him off the top of my head. Even Ryan Pickett of the Packers performed better on a consistent basis. The one thing the Lions fail to understand is talent alone doesn't win in the NFL. It helps but you need to work hard, be smart, and good coaching to do so. Shaun Rorgers has the talent but I know he doesn't work hard and I know he didn't get good coaching. Don't know about the other one.
I actually could see him working out in Cleveland though because I think he'll start to put some of the stuff I said above together. Such as get good coaching and maybe work hard. He's also going to play next to Corey Williams which will help.

The reason I am defending him about being able to be a great player when he goes 100% is because its true... He is great when he wants to be and a useless player when hes not going 100%. With all his talent if someone cam continue to push him and he keeps making strides he would be a pro bowl player every year. I think this trade with the Browns is a great trade honestly a 3rd and a great but underrated CB that shut down Chad Johnson... but that Bengals offer was just terrible IMO.

I never defended Harrington, Rogers or Mike Williams. All of them suck and it was just 3 more 1st rounders Millen has drafted that couldn't get it done. I dont get how you can say that he didnt get good coaching, Marinelli has been a DL coach for forever. It's just Shaun wasn't ready to go all out to be the best, yes he improved some but not enough for Rod & Co.
