Default Another Reciever Traded

Darrell Jackson has been traded to the 49ers for a 4th round pick. Seems to be a steep price considering Moss got traded for the same thing. It also shows how low the Hawks think of him considering they traded him to a division rival.

Besides giving up a little too much, this is a great move for the 9ers. Smith now has plenty of options to throw to and that offense is starting to look a little explosive.

This trade personafies what I don't understand about the NFL. Seattle traded a 1st round pick for for Deion Branch, who has never had a 1,000 yard season. Branch is much like a smaller version of Darrell Jackson. However, Darrell Jackson has out produced, and out performed Branch. There is a perceived age factor, however, while Jackson has two years more experience than Branch, he is only one year older, or 13 months to be more specific. Jackson has had some injury issues, however, so did Branch in New England. Branch makes more money than Jackson, and has a contract which is structured so poorly that it could be one of few long term deals that are honored, or come close to being honored through the final year. And a 4th round pick is all that comes back in return for Jackson? Hell, a 4th rounder could have gotten... Randy Moss? Granted, he is a circus, but he offers a much more diverse look in the receiving corps. Tim Ruskell has proven to be a good evaluator of defensive players, and has built a decent defense at a relative value. However, his choices on offense disgust me.

The 9ers stole Jackson imo.

They will win the division this year and get to the NFC championship.

I like the move by San Fran. Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, Alex Smith, Darrell Jackson, Ashley Lelie, Arnaz Battle make for some good offensive weapons, and they snagged Jason Hill in the draft.

I'm still picking the Niners to be my BUST team this year because of Alex Smith. I did love their Draft though and I do believe they have a good defensive foundation but I'm not big on Smith so for that reason I think it's going to be a disappointing season. I'll take Seattle with Mike Holmgrem and Matt Hasselbeck over anyone in that division.

I'm interested in where Alex Smith progression goes without Turner. The Niners do have a lot of talent though. You can't say they haven't gone out and got Smith some weapons. The best weapon they got him, IMO, is the beefing up of the defense. Maybe the niners will have to play from behind a little less and ease the pressure on Smith.

Boy... Porky... I wish I was optomistic enough to agree with you.

It's interesting though, because it's been all about the Cardinals and Rams for the past three seasons. "Who is going to take the throne?" "Damn those Cards sure have a good young core". Now San Francisco has really snuck up, and become the second leading contender in the division. I think they could win the division sooner rather than later. I think this is Seattle's final year, if they even win it this year, winning the NFC West.

Id rather have Steven Jackson, Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce, Drew Bennett, Dante Hall, Randy McMichael, & Marc Bulger than Frank Gore, Darrell Jackson, Ashley Lelie, Arnaz Battle, Jason Hill, Vernon Davis, & Alex Smith anyday

No credit or respect is ever given to the Rams on this forum... the Cardinals are on the rise, but in no way should be graded higher than the Rams... our defense has made some improvements and even though all you will probably call me a homer for saying this, but i think the Rams have a legitimate shot at the Super Bowl this year

Bottom line the NFC West is one of the toughest divisions and it will be fun to see who comes out on top

Legitimate shot at the Super Bowl? Ha. If I got dogged on for saying that about the Chargers last year you will DEFINATELY here it for saying the Rams have a shot.

Yeah...but I'm guilty of also saying that I think the Rams have a legitimate shot and went as far as to predict them in the Super Bowl for an early prediction. That could change by the start of the season. The truth is that one injury sent the Rams' season in tumbles last year and that was when Orlando Pace went down. Before he was hurt, Marc Bulger was in the thoughts for the MVP of the league. He didn't throw an INT until the 6th week of the season. His protection started wearing down after Pace got hurt and it was open season on Bulger. He's one of my favorite QBs in the league though. The Rams also have a good shot because they are in the NFC. Their division could be much improved, but I think they're right in the thick of things within it. Then there's Steven Jackson who is the 2nd or 3rd best back in the league. I think the addition of Chris Draft, which will let Witherspoon move back outside, will be a very beneficial move next year. They also added Adam Carriker to that DL. His impact should be immediate as well. A little defense and a little protection for Bulger is all the Rams need to sneak into the playoffs. I think they're going to be in contention in a very weak conference where no team truly stands out as the favorite.
