Default Packers and Raiders on verge of a Deal

This is could effect the Draft in a huge way. I believe this is true.

Last night on a different board a well respected poster said a deal could be announced as soon as Friday and things were pretty much all done. He said his friend who has a source high up in the Raiders organization told him of the deal.

This guy is someone I certainly believe but I didn't this time.

Here is what he said

http://www.packerforum.com/index.php...sh=25&start=25

Quote:
The deal is going to be finalized tomorrow.

Randy has been told to book a flight to Green Bay and will be at the press conference. Brett will also be making a statement at the press conference, according to my source.

The Raiders will announce a press conference for Friday at 5PM P.S.T.

The Raiders have agreed to allow the Packers to have their Press Conference before the Raiders official press conference, so expect a Packer Press Conference around 1 PM Green Bay time on Friday.

The Raiders will be getting Aaron, and the Packers 7th ruound pick in 2008 for Randy Moss, TE Courtney Anderson - Player Profile- www.sportsline.com/nfl...age/492881 and a conditional pick in 2009 with the highest being a 2nd round pick based on production numbers from Aaron.

Apparently T.T. insisted that part of the deal was for Ranndy Moss and his agent to restructure his contract and ALSO FOR RANDY to be at the PRESS CONFERENCE IN PERSON and offer an appology to the Green Bay Fans in regards to the Mooning of the fans in Green bay. (Good On You T.T.)

Word is Randy is very happy and he and Brett have been talknng on the phone. The respect that Randy has for Brett has always been known so this makes sense to me.

Aaron Rogers has not been assured that the Raiders will not draft Q.B. with the first Pick but is very upbeat on the opportunity to return to the bay area as well as know that he will be the number one QB going into camp.

I know you are all going to ask me for a source. I am sorry I can not give it to you, not that I am a reporter becuase I am not.

I can only tell you that this is what was told to me, by a guy I know, who is a friend of a friend... So this probably means crap.

I just wanted it posted and recorded incase it is right.

I am buying this becuase the Packers need help at TE, the appology and restructuring of Randy's contract as well as the fact the Brett is suppose to make a statement about the trade, after all.... He has been fighting for this.

Now a Report from Packersnews.com comes out....

Quote:
For those holding out hope that the Patriots [team stats]’ plans to revamp the wide receiver position included trading for Randy Moss, we have some bad news for you.

A source in Wisconsin said today that the Packers and Raiders are on the verge of announcing a trade that would send the troubled receiver to Green Bay in exchange for backup quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

However, one source close to Rodgers adamantly denied the rumor, saying, to his knowledge, the Raiders and Packers have not had substantive discussions.

There are expected to be other particulars in the deal. According to the Wisconsin source, Green Bay would also give up a seventh-round pick in 2008, while the Packers would receive Raiders tight end Courtney Anderson as part of the deal.
The Packers would also receive a conditional pick from the Raiders in the 2009 draft which would be based on Rodgers’ production in Oakland the next two seasons. The Wisconsin source indicated that Moss has agreed to restructure his contract, which calls for $20 million in base salary the next two years. Moss and Packers quarterback Brett Favre are said to have been talking on the phone throughout the process. Press conferences could be held as early as Friday.
If this happens. I think Calvin Johnson is the #1 overall pick and Rodgers is given the go at QB for Oakland. I think think Russell falls to Cleveland at #3.

I also believe this is a great move for the Packers. They get Moss and don't give up a pick in this years Draft? Rodgers hasn't looked that great in training camp either. At least my opinion.

Then again this could be all a bunch of smoke but interesting none the less.

Now Bob Harlan says the trade isn't going to happen. Weird that the Boston Herald would report that a deal is very close though. I'm not sure what to believe. I did find it ironic that the posters story and the reporters story from the Herald were identical.

I don't understand why the Raiders would want Rogers. When he has played he has looked terrible. It has been in pre-season but he has looked terrible. He often times would under throw his receivers and he didn't appear to have the ability to read a defense. I remember watching Hasselbach when he was with Green Bay and he looked great even though it was in preaseason.

I think it would be a great trade for Green Bay and it probably means, barring injury, Farve will play two more seasons.

This trade would make the Raiders look absolutely foolish. After aquiring Moss for the 7th overall pick in 2005 and Napolean Harris, who is a solid MLB, they go and trade him for a inexpierenced QB and a 7th round pick?

I don't believe this deal was getting even close to being done, this is just wishful thinking by some idiot who says he's an "insider"

I do find it kind of farfetched that the Raiders would do this deal. It seems way to little from what they were allegedly asking for. Though perhaps they just want to get rid of Moss and want the best value they can get. Either way though, I don't believe in these reports either. Adam Schefner said they were false as well.

I however do believe that the Packers and Raiders are talking. Ted Thompson went out of his way to say THIS report is false but he never denied anything on Randy Moss playing in Green Bay or being on their radar.

I think it's more likely to be a 2nd for Moss and a 7th or a 3rd and a player like KGB for Moss and a 6th.

If this actually were to happen, it would be a very interesting deal to say the least. Still, I don't think Green Bay is a place where Moss could thrive.

At this point, i think its about 85% that Randy Moss stays in Oakland. Green Bay isn't going to offer what Oakland is asking, and it just doesn't make sense for the Raiders to get rid of him. He and JaMarcus Russell could be recoming of the success he had with Culpepper, and probably even better. If the Raiders trade him, it needs to be a QB, and not a Aaron Rodgers type QB, a guy they can trust.

I hate to see aaron rodgers be considered a bust already.

You know how many things this guy has gone through. The poor guy sat their in the green room for hours, and was finally picked by Green Bay to replace Favre, whom almost everyone agreed was playing his last season. But then Favre returns not for one more year, but a second in this upcoming year. So he sits the bench for the last two years practically, and once he plays just alittle in one game last season, he breaks his foot and is out or the year. Now hes in trade talks to go to the worst team in the NFL. I cant help but feel bad for the guy.

He still has yet to actually play and be able to get into a grove and rythem of a starting QB.
