Cicadas are gaining momentum!

The cicadas are starting to get seriously loud, I can't believe it. Such odd creatures they are. Anyone else dealing with cicadas right now.

Arrrrrrrr, cicadas be eatin yur tree treasure me matey! You should move down south, dware you would burn yur nuts off!! Life be full of mysteries of the unknown!! Cicadas are of the devil me ladd, so eat their heads off before the land pigions get ya!!!

I don't think cicadas actually eat the trees. Their life consists of crawling out of the ground, breaking out of their carcus, sitting around, growing wings, sitting around, fly if they don't die from the sun, make some serious noise, mate, then die. I'm not sure if they eat at all.

Actually Krause, cicadas do eat. They nibble on leaves throughout their lives. The leaves they eat tend to turn brown around the edges. This phenomenon is know as "flaging." It usually happens when male and females have mated and the female prepares to lay her eggs.
