2004 draft was great when you consider Vince Wilfork stolen at #1, Corey Dillon stolen at #2; some other quality athletes added that we haven't even begun to see the payoff of.
2005 draft was one of the few drafts truly for need. Added some great depth at DB, including Duane Starks for a #3. Added some needed youth and depth on the O-line.
Would have liked to see some youth at linebacker but I agree that there just wasn't much linebacker talent available - love their getting extra #3, #4, #5 and hope thay use these to address linebacker next year.
Hard to grade a Belichek/Pioli draft because you never see the true value until several years down the road. I think that most true Patriot fans share the same respect that they just can't argue with Belichek/Pioli, because they have proven over and over that they know talent much better than the so-called experts (and certainly much more than me).
Look at the 2003 draft - everybody they drafted then is still there and contributing except for their late 7th rounder (Christian Morton). Look at the no-names many laughed at: Asante Samuel, Eugene Wilson, Stephen "The Wrestler" Neal, Randall Gay, Russ Hochstein ..... Tom "6th Round" Brady??? .... then look at the added counterproductive "troublemakers" like Rodney Harrison, Corey Dilllon, Tyrone Poole, et al.
Yep; Belichek/Pioli know what they are doing.
