Don't think Parcells had the Cowboys rookies and eligible first-year players lining up in a 3-4 defense at this past mini-camp just to see how it looks. Jones said the Cowboys will open their full-squad, May 27-29 mini-camp lining up in a 3-4 defense.

Now this does not mean the Cowboys will line up exclusively in a 3-4 defense, but it appears Parcells will use the formation he's most familiar with as a staple. Thanks to this draft, the Cowboys now have some players capable of transitioning between the 3-4 and 4-3.

And the big question has been, what happens with La'Roi Glover? Jones said he'll be on the nose, and Glover, also out at Cowboys Golf Course to participate in the tournament, says he played the nose in New Orleans when the Saints dabbled in the 3-4 alignm

Hmmm - Glover at the nose seems to contradict a lot of what has been written about the Cowboys and about the personnel required to play 3-4.

That said, Glover is too good a player to sit on the bench - they will find a way to get him involved whether at the nose or at DE.

I've read numerous times that Glover will be switching to DE.

I haven't read that, but I have felt all along that he would switch to DE.

I personally am against the 3-4 but it looks like they may have the people to pull it off. Glover probably switch to DE and maybe test a rook at DT.

What is your objection to the 3-4 litbruce? Is it merely because it is different from what the Cowboys have always run?

I admit to it seeming strange, but I can't say I am against it.

I just prefer the idea of 4 solid lineman. It seems that double teams are easier with 3 but i do realize that those double teams free up LBs for the blitz. It works for the Pats, why not give it a shot.

That's exactly the point - the DL ties up the OL and the LB's, who are faster and more athletic, are free to make plays.

I'm sure you are going through the same thing I am. It will be strange to see the Cowboys in a 3-4, it's just not the way I envision them.

the 3-4 had better work with all the linebackers we have, although i hope the cowboys use equal amounts of 3-4 and 4-3 because i want to see spears ferguson ellis and glover on the line
