Default Vikings Draft

7th pick Troy Williamson

http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com...ings_ny163.jpg

18 pick Erasmus James

49th pick Marcus Johnson

80th pick Dustin Fox

122nd pick Ciatrick Fason

191st pick Michael "C.J." Mosley, Jr.

219th pick Adrian Ward

What do you think?

I'm not high on Troy I think he's a guy that gained too much stock from a good workout. We probally could have traded down and still got him.

I think James is a steal at 18 and should help the defence out a lot by giving a strong pass rush from the outside.

Marcus Johnson can play both G/T. I like the pick we need depth on offencive line and he can play 2 positions. I would much rather have seen us take Chrowder some people had him as Late 1st rounder and we need LB help.

Dustin Fox ran a 4.45 4o and put up good numbers with Ohio State. I've never heard of the guy, boy did they do thier homework, I think this kid can be pretty good. He might end up being a Safety. Darryl Blackstock an OLB fell all they way here which would have been a steal this late in the draft but they must be cumfortable with their young LB corp.[img][/img][img][/img][img][/img]

I agree, but only time will tell. Willimason was skyrocketing up a lot of boards, so maybe he is the real deal. It didn't excite me though, but the Vikings have drafted well and many thought Kevin Williams was a reach too. My guess is that they talked to teams about trading down, but couldn't get anyone to bite. San Diego apparently had their eye on Williamson so they couldn't go any lower than that and it looks like the teams between 8 and 11 got pretty much who they wanted. I was so happy all the running backs were gone and we took a receiver. I'm happy with James. I was hoping Johnson was going to slip to us at 18. Who do they take in the second round?

I'll keep my fingers crossed for a decent OLB but Tice was saying on KFAN that if he had another first rounder that he'd use it on Nugent. So look for them to take the kicker outta OSU.

I to thought Kevin Williams was a reach.

One thing I do like about Troy is that he's fast and it'll be fun to use him on Madden 2006.

Since they didn't get a kicker i'm hoping they pick this guy sometime durning day 2

Dave Rayner, Michigan State (6-2, 210)
Rayner was wide receiver, a kicker and a punter (43.3-yard punting average) in high school. He was also a two-year starter in basketball and was recruited as an NCAA Division I soccer prospect. Rayner has been Michigan State's kicker since the 2001 season and has converted 62-90 field goals and 148 of 151 PATs. He can drive the ball through the end zone on kickoffs. He also punts (rugby style), averaging 40 yards in 2003. Rayner has a powerful leg, but needs better accuracy. It has improved of the past year.

and

Ernest Shazor
Because he's a big hitter and we havn't had one since Robert Griffith.

Look for them to at some time on the second day draft a guy that can play a position and also be a good return man. Darrin Sproles RB, Jerome Mathis WR (4.28 in the 40-yard dash), Craphonso Thorpe WR or Fred Gibson WR are possibilities.

With Clarrett gone, they just couldn't resist taking another running back. :? :?

It looks like on the second day they went with BPA according to their scouts.

They didn't get anyone I suggested, but they did get the following:

Ciatrick Fason - Only knock on this guy is his speed and size. He's very quick and can make people miss. I'm very suprised they took a back this year that gives them 5 that ligitimately have a chance to make the team. Somebody with talent is going to sit on the inavtive list because 5 is 1 too many to keep on the active roster.

Michael "C.J." Mosley, Jr. - Never heard of the guy but from skimming throuogh the profile he has good speed for his size and can get after the QB. Has trouble againts the run and geting off blocks. Something that he can be tought in a few years. May eventually replace Kevin Williams if they opt not to give him a huge sontract when his up, or the aging Pat Williams. Will not see much time his first few years.

Adrian Ward - Couldn't really find anything on this guy. Very undersized 5-10 and buck seventy. Had good times at his pro day. Ran his 40s in 4.37 and 4.40. He also had a 39-inch vertical jump, 9-foot long jump, 4.39 short shuttle, 7.20 three-cone drill and six bench presses. Very fast and quick, ran back kickoffs in junior college and look for him to try and make the team as return man. I can't wait for preseason, I want to see what this speedy kid can do as a KR and PR. The team hasn't had a good return man since David Palmer was here.

Now that the draft is concluded we know exactly what we got for Moss in the trade. Nepolean Harris, Troy Williamson and Adrian Ward.

Thought we traded Oaklands for Cowart but I guess I was wrong, I read it in a different forum and assumed it was true.

Just noticed that Shazor was undrafted, I pray to the football gods that they sign him.

I wouldve liked to gotten Hawthorne out of WI in the 5th. He'll be really good or a bust and in the fifth ill take that gamble any day. Plus he would still be able to play next to James, which helped both of them out. I dont think he would've started this year, but since we did draft a DT, I wouldve preferred him.

I think their trying to stay away from players with off the feild problems, hence the Moss trade. Hathorne was a projected first rounder in early mocks I'm suprised he slid that far. Tested positive for marijuana at some point in his career I heard.
