Default Kicker

If that kicker from Ohio State is sitting there in the second round, should we take him?

Definitely, he is th best kicking prospect in a long time. He could solve any team's kicking woes.

I would take him late second round or trade up for early third round. Or, try to get lucky in the third round.

Second round is too early, probably we would trade up for an early third round pick and snap him up there.

I could see us taking nugent in the second round but i think it would be better if we grabbed a safety there n traded up for nugent in the third.

3rd at the earliest, they've had a problem at kicker since Mitch Burger left and it becames the kickers job to do kickoffs. They've been having to keep an extra man on the roster just to do kickoffs cause the old men they've had kicking feild goals cant kick off deeper than the 10 yard line. You guys remember the Anderson's, Gary and Morten.

So as of now the Vikings do not have a kicker if they were to play a game today Darren Bennett would be the man to do it. He's our punter and this is a problem that will need to be addressed before the season starts.

Wade Richey, Martin Gramatica, Steve Christie, Gary Anderson, Morten Anderson are free agents Doug Brien will shortly after he is cut by the Jeets who drafted Nugent. Or a undrafted rookie free agent is possible. I skimmed through profiles on the undrafted kickers and none seemed worth mentioning.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for Gramatica who at least has a strong leg and would be good enough to fill the roll of both kickoff man and kicker.

From NFL.com

"From the fourth round on, the Bears debated drafting Rayner until the Colts snapped him up. Even so, the Bears are going to release their kicker, Paul Edinger, before training camp. Once they do, don't be surprised if Minnesota makes a run at him. When Edinger was a restricted free agent, Minnesota signed him to an offer sheet. Once he is on the street -- and it'll probably be sooner rather than later -- the Vikings could get him this time."
