Default Ted Thompson is an idiot

Ted Thompson is an idiot. I just wanted to get it in writing somewhere. He seems to think that he is the general manager of an NFL team in 1990 where you can build your team just through the draft. He has 21 million dollars in salary cap space and he has yet to sign one player. I'm sorry he signed some corner that will compete for the nickel back position this year.

I believe that you must be wise in your free agent spending, but you still need to add a few pieces to the puzzle through it. He's a moran if he doesn't believe that his window of opportunity is going to close soon. Farve will retire eventually. He may not be what he was, but he is still a Quarterback you can win with. After he leaves it may be bad for a couple of years. Look how well past Hall of Fame quarterbacks have been replaced like Marino and Elway.

Ted Thompson is not an idiot, He is trying to build his team based on his defense, so that when Favre retires the pressure will not be on the new QB to win games. HE made 2 good signings last year in Pickett and Woodson. IF you are going to say he is an idiot for not signing any free agents this year, please tell me who he should've signed? Over paid grossly for Nate Clemments, or Donte' Stallworth or an older RB (i guess you can make the argument that he should've went after Travis Henry) but i think he is banking on drafting Lynch. SO if you think Ted Thompson is an idiot, please tell me what you would've done different? Blow that whole cap space on a marginal FA class this year (the top FA's all got franchised) to try and make a play-off run this season and completely cap strap the team in the years after Favre Retires? I personally think Ted is doing a fine job and i can see his long-term plan, but i guess u can't

Now a days in the NFL, a long-term plan is 2 or 3 years. Anything past that and you are asking to be replaced, unless you are Matt Millen. I know that Ted is building his defense to be the strength of the team when Farve retires. That's great except they will be a solid D, not a unit capable of carrying a team.

I believe they should have taken a stab at Stallworth and D. Graham. Maybe not both but they should have gotten at least one. They both come with baggage, but would have upgraded the offense. You sign Stallworth and/or D. Graham and don't have to worry about the trade with R. Moss. I'm not that concerned with the salary cap. We don't have any players that are due a huge salary increase, except Barnett. You also have to look at the players with the highest salaries on the team. When Farve does retire that will knock off around $10 million dollars, Woodson's deal was front loaded and Kabeer will either have to take a pay cut soon or he will be cut or traded. Anyone they signed they could also front load their deals so that their cap number comes down as the length of the deal progresses.

I believe Thompson has done a descent job drafting, but I don't think he has done enough in free agency, especially since he has the most money to spend.

OK i will give you Stallworth and Graham, those are 2 guys i would've like to see them go after, but other than those 2 there were really no free agents out their to thrown big money at, except mabye Ken Hamilin at safety, but I wouldn;t have thrown BIG money at him

I don't want them to throw money around just to do it, I want them to spend their money wisely. But I do want them to spend it. Clement for $80 million is nuts. I don't believe he could have helped them enough to justify that much. Anyway, we will see if Thompson can pull off some kind of trade before or during the draft for some players.

Turner wouldn't be too bad, but I'm not completely sold on Moss. I don't believe the Moss trade will happen because Al Davis is insane and wants too much for him.

Teams that build throw the draft, and are quietter in FA are generally more productive in the long run. I hate the Packers and I still believe Thompson has done a solid job with this franchise, and patience is all you GB Crapper fans need.

I still believe that the Packers could have gone after Graham or Stallworth and imporved their team at a comfortable cost. BUT since you have thrown in your lot with the ViQueens fan, I will know turn to your side.

Are the Vikings really going to go into next year with a QB battle between Brooks Bollinger and Tavaris Jackson? Personally I hope they do.

No TaRvaris (sorry im getting sick of people misspelling it) Jackson is going to be the starter, Brooks Bollinger is just supposed to be a motivation to do better, knowing that Bollinger could take over at any moment if Tarvaris slips up. But Brad Childress is going to make it out to be a battle in the offseason, and probably not just between them, there are rumours of Carr or possible trading for Trent Green. But he will make it a "battle" in training camp, and at the end award it to Jackson. That way Jackson will feel as if he won the job, and it will be a major confidence booster.

But it's not like it matters, because my Vikings are probably gunna suck next season anyways

Hey you said bout the Vikings sucking, not me. But I think the Vikings got talent, could have an unstopable O-Line and running game, great D- LIne i just think they don't have the right coach
