Playoff Alternative
So i had an idea... you all know since i posted the thread about a college football playoff, i've spent time thinking about how to imporve the system. An alternative idea I had was to realign conferences, and to create another BCS conference. Let me explain...
The new conference would look like so
From the WAC:
Boise state
Hawaii
Fresno State
From Moun West
Utah
BYU
TCU
Air Force
From the MAC
Tulsa
Rice
Houston
This would leave 5 teams remaining in the Moun West, 6 in the WAC, and 9 in the MAC (only 3 in the western half of the conference.)
Therefore, you disassemble the Moun West, and give the WAC UNLV and San Diego state, And the remaining 3 to the MAC's western conference, restoring it to 12, and giving the WAC 8.
The other thing that could make things interesting, is adding Notre Dame and Ball State to this new BCS conference. You could do it on top of the 10 already there, and have a conference championship game. Notre Dame is independant, and Ball State leaving would still give the Mid American 12 teams.
The other option for Ball State to make the BCS without joing this new conference: Join the BIG 10
The Big 10 would then have 12 teams, and could change their name and create a conference championship game.
Of course its all specualtion and probably never has any chance of happening, but interesting though huh?
I mean, the new conference, if you got notre dame and ball state, would have 6 teams in the top 25 in Boise, UTAH, TCU, BYU, TULSA, and Ball.... plus the big name NOTRE DAME and a title game. It could end up a better conference than the PAC 10 and Big East.
Anyone agree with me?
