Then why post if no one else can possibly have a clue?!
Obviously, sports can mean a lot to a community or a school. Ball St. students have latched onto this season because of Dante Love and other reasons.
Virginia Tech was very attached to its football season last year.
I've even witnessed it personally at the high school level.
I personally don't remember anyone on this forum saying Ball St. didn't have a chance in hell at going undefeated. I said they're going to be very good, but I liked Central Michigan more. I was wrong. It happens to us all.
However, you come on here with your rant, telling us all how out of touch we are and telling us we can bitch about whatever we want. Who was bitching about Ball St. on here? Who ever insulted them? The way you're acting and looking down on us is the biggest insult occurring to your school's success right now.
You came out and attacked those who never attacked you or your school. Just because we were talking about ECU going to the BCS earlier this season. Is that what offended you?
I'm happy for Ball St. My original post was about Whitlock's column, which was terribly out of touch with the overall realm of things. He ripped ESPN for what? Covering Ball St. and putting them on television four straight weeks? I guess that's just not enough, when in the past Ball State would have never seen any air time.
Anyway, this is about as pointless a thread now that I've ever seen. Instead of giving other members of this forum the opportunity to congratulate you and your team for their accomplishment, you've instead turned it against Ball St. Something it wasn't before your post although Jason Whitlock apparently convinced you it was. After all, who could possibly care about Ball St. other than those going or having graduated from Ball St. That makes no sense!
I am a college football fan. I am one of only a couple on this forum who prefer the college game over the NFL. I have my likes and dislikes in the game. I hate the University of Texas, Ohio State and the University of Nebraska. I love the Colorado Buffs, the Texas Tech Red Raiders, the Auburn Tigers and the Baylor Bears.
I also love the teams that come from no where and create a great story. I write a college football column just about weekly. At the start of the season, I wrote a BCS Buster column and called for more respect for the MAC. I thought they deserved much more consideration in the polls as well as in bowl games. That being said, yes, I picked CMU to win the MAC. I liked Dan LeFevour a lot, but Nate Davis, Dante Love and Darius Hill all received mention from me as I praised Ball State's offense. Not going to lie, I didn't see MiQuale Lewis coming. I simply preferred CMU's defensive abilities more.
Ball St. proved me wrong and I have no qualms with that and most of the guys on this forum don't even care anyway because the only reason they watch college football is because of the draft.
Your bitterness, along with your boy Whitlock's, only turns more away from Ball St. But maybe that's the way you guys want it. After all, if Ball St. gets the credit it deserves, then you can't bitch at us all and scream I told you so.

I'm arguing for why Ball State should be in the BCS, as the topic states.
And since this has been up since the beginning of the season, there has been what, 10 posts. There's been plenty of time for someone to mention their opinion.
Ball State never recieved love this year. 50% of fans polled beleive that non-BCS conferences shouldn't even be allowed to play in a BCS game.
Think whatever you want to think, but Ball State deserves it BCS shot. The stats I posted earlier rival any team.

The stats might, but the competition doesn't come close. I'm wondering if you read Whitlock's entire column because he actually says Ball State doesn't deserve a BCS shot because of its schedule.
From Whitlock:
"I'm not someone who believes Ball State belongs in a BCS bowl game. Any team — not just a mid-major — needs a top-25 victory on its resume before you even begin the BCS argument. We don't have it. Right now, we've earned the right to be ranked — in my opinion — anywhere from No. 18 to 23. If we finish 14-0, I'll be satisfied with a ranking between No. 10 and 15."
This topic hasn't been posted on because most of the guys here are fans of the NFL and don't even read this forum. Plain and simple. Most guys here don't have an opinion about Ball St. and most of the ones that might have an opinion don't necessarily have a very informed one because they passively watch college football. That was my point on why your rant against the guys on this forum was unwarranted.

I read the whole article mostly becuase Whitlock is a BSU grad and no other reason.
I saw where we pointed out that realistically that Ball State won't be a BCS team. However, I'm sure he feels as I do that they should be in the BCS. So we feel the same there. And trust me that the players, students, and university feel we should be a BCS team.
The schedule is what everyone calls out. However, Western Michigan and Central Michigan were very good teams both in the top 30 of the AP poll. We beat Western by 23 in a game that wasn't ever close and Central at their place in the snow.
If you want to point out schedule, then how is Ohio State so high. Who did they beat? All Ohio State beat was a weak Big Ten whom the MAC showed they could handle too (MAC was 4-1 against Big TEn). BSU should have BCS bowl consideration over OSU.
We beat whom we had scheduled and thats all we can do. Ball State is playing as good as anybody else right now without there best player. Put us in a BCS game and we will compete, no doubt about it.
On a side note, it looks like after tonight's game that BSU should be #12.

Homer of the century award ^^^
Apparently you are determined to have this "us against the world attitude" and to feel slighted and disrespected by the rest of the world, when in fact nobody on here has even said anything remotely close to negative about Ball St.

Raw deal for Ball State and Boise State probably as well this year. Who cares who you play, but if you're undefeated, shouldn't you have a chance to play in a BCS game? I really hope that Boise gets into the BCS over Ohio State. I'd rather the Buckeyes not make the BCS, go to the Capital One instead, and actually win a bowl game. Have Boise play Texas in the Fiesta and Utah play the SEC loser in the Sugar.
But if Boise doesn't make the BCS, I really hope they work out the Ball State/Boise State game that there's been talk about. Could happen at the Humanitarian, Motor City, and I read somewhere, maybe the Independence. Let these 2 teams play and not have to play some scrap teams that Boise and Ball State will crush.

There was a recent report saying the Ball State/Boise State game will not occur. I agree. It's too bad.
As far as the go undefeated and get into the BCS thing, I don't agree. Say Troy goes undefeated romping through the Sun Belt conference without beating anyone legitimate in their pre-conference schedule. They wouldn't be in a BCS game.
Same is true about Ball State. I feel the same is true about the ACC and Big East this year as well.
If there was an eight-team playoff system, I'd want to see Cincinnati and Boston College/Va. Tech left out of it. I would also agree Ball State would be on the outside looking in.

It appears you and your boy Whitlock spoke up one game too soon anyway.

What an embarrassing performance. Hell, even I said it watching the game of Ball State fumbles.
Whats even worse is now Brady Hoke is gone, though Stan Parrish is just as qualified if not more qualified to coach this team.
It also appears Nate Davis is gone too from what I'm hearing on campus.
Great run, but it just seemed like Ball State had nothing to play for it that game.
