Default West Virginia coaching hunt

So a new elite coaching job is available. Funny... the only reason this is considered an elite coaching job is because of Rich Rodriguez.

Terry Bowden has contacted WVU about the opening. He calls it his dream job. Terry was around the job because his dad was once coach of the Mountaineers before he took over at Florida State.

I liked what Terry did at Auburn when he was there. I thought he was a very good coach, who had a ton of job offers and didn't pursue any by his own choice. It'd be a bit of a risky choice because he's been out of coaching for so long, but I think he'd turn out to be worth the risk.

I heard a report that Nick Sabans Agent has contacted WVU about their coaching posistion. He is from WV so I can believe that. Just throwing it out there.

I've also heard Bud Fosters name come up. He's got a lot of experience and he could be a good fit with WVU.

I think Bowden will get the job though.

Saban would be crazy to take the job. Not because its a good job, but because of everything he'd get for it. He left LSU for the Dolphins, stayed there 2 years, and went to Alabama, and he's been there, what 1 or 2 years? He'll get the same treatment as Petrino got. The guy doesn't care about his players and just wants to pad his wallet.

I haven't seen the Nick Saban stuff anywhere. That sounds like a reporter trying to stir something up to me.

Florida assistant coach Doc Holiday (yes, it's his real name) interviewed for the job today. He played linebacker at WVU and was a long time assistant coach there. He's also a West Virginia native.

It looks like Central Michigan coach Butch Jones is now the leading candidate for this job. I heard on ESPN last night he's having a second interview today. I think Jones would be a very good hire. He's done a good job at CMU and is a strong recruiter. He's also running a similar system, except he likes to throw the ball a bit more than Rodriguez did.
