Check this out. I like this guy's articles. I usually find them to be very to the point and accurate. I know people don't like the race issue being brought up but he has a point. I actually sent him an email in regards to this.
"Roland,
I just wanted to say I read your articles on Cnn.com all the time. Your articles are insightful, honest, and well written pieces. I especially like your article on the lack of black coaches in college. And how you pointed out not just black coaches, but all minority coaches like Norm Chow. Another NFL coach that should be thrown into that mix is Ron Rivera who went from being one of the best defensive coordinators to a linebacker coach. Are you kidding me? Why hasn't Singletary been offered a position at a "good" college program? I also believe the problem to be the lack of support from the current white head coach majority. Well, except for that Joe Paterno reference you made. More white head coaches have to give their support to these minority assistant coaches. Tell everyone, "hey this guy should be a head coach here or at some other reputable program." Even openly go to the media and express this. Bring attention to that person, make people take notice, and put pressure on universities. Most people just flat out don't know assistant coaches regardless of race. If they start to hear about a guy they'll start questioning why this guy isn't given a chance and you will see an outcry for these people to be given a chance. And if the coaches don't do it, how about the media do it? Most of the media is quick to rip someone down, how about building someone up and making others take notice?"
