Heisman Debate
Why is it that Nate Longshore (1,410 yds 17 TD) of Cal isn't even mentioned in the Heisman Debate, when he has similar or better numbers than Chad Henne (1,103 and 13) and Brady Quinn (1,634 and 16)? Sometimes I think they pick 5 candidates in the pre-season and the trophy goes to whoever does best out of those 5, regardless of what anyone else does

You're honestly not too far off. I don't regard the Heisman too highly anymore. Longshore has been very impressive especially since he rebounded off of a terrible opening game against Tennessee. The Heisman is about media hype. The player with the most media hype will win it.

I agree 100%. Longshore should be mentioned. Hopefully he will after a few more weeks.

I don't think he should be considered. He has faced one decent defense since Tennessee and that was Oregon. Against Oregon he only passed for 189 yards. That's not what a heisman does in a big game. This is the reason people think Brady Quinn is overrated and I agree.
And what's this about not being considered if you are outside the original top 5. What about Garrett Wolfe everyone is talking about for heisman?
If you want someone from cal to be nominated it would have to be Desean Jackson. He has 522 yards with 8 TD's and 2 punt return TD's.
My top 5 is:
Garrett Wolfe
Troy Smith
Adrian Peterson
Calvin Johnson
Chase Daniel(as long as Mizzou Stays undefeated)

I just happened to be looking at their numbers and it struck me that he had such comparable numbers to Quinn and Henne yet nobody talks about him

Peterson is out of the race now. Its horrible that all this has to happen to a great back like him.
