Default Bomar kicked off the team...

This is definitely the biggest news of the college football preseason and will continue to be the biggest story throughout OU's entire season. He and his roommate were kicked off the team for accepting about $18,000 from a car dealership that they were only working at for 5 hours a week. This really slams OU in my opinion. Paul Thompson was looking really good at WR. He's the only player on the team with any experience at QB now. It'll be interesting to see if OU puts him back under center or if they'll turn to Joey Hazle, a JUCO transfer, or Sam Bradford, a true freshman.

They just lost any chance of going to the National Title in my opinion. They also won't beat Texas for the Big 12 Title. Both are iffy at QB but Texas is still holding onto the #1 recruiting class a couple years back and that will make the difference in my opinion.

This does make the Big 12 more of a wide open race though.

Texas is now much better off at QB with either Colt McCoy or true freshman Jevan Snead ready to take over the job. Snead played for a very good offense at Stephenville, TX. But either way, UT will be all about Jamal Charles offensively. They have a solid OL and Charles is going to be an explosive back and will see even more carries with Ramonce Taylor transfering out. Now Texas Tech and Texas A&M might become the biggest threats to UT defending their title.

Oklahoma is now worse than: Texas, Colorado, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Mizzou and Iowa State. I believe they will struggle to win 7 games and Adrian Peterson's Heisman chances have gone into the wind with 8 guys returning into the box like last year.

That's far fetched. They aren't worse than all of those teams just from losing Bomar. Will they struggle? Yes. But they still have some athletes on defense to be excited about, Rufus Alexander for one. This team has recruited too well for their demise to be dictated by the loss of a single player. Let us not forget about a healthy Adrian Peterson. I think the only team in the Big 12 that you can definitely say OU is not better than now is UT. Bomar did make that much of a difference. Yet who knows, playing WR for a tim might have helped Thompson understand the passing game better. He's a great athlete who can make things happen.

It's Adrian Peterson vs. Jamal Charles in a way. Texas will have a semi good passing attack though and they're a deeper team. Limas Sweed showed some good signs last year and if he steps up that'll really help them. I think Texas is now the clear cut favorite. Before OU vs Texas could of been the decider of the Big 12. Now I think OU is just in the middle of the pack with Texas Tech. Tech could be a dark horse.

Also without a passing attack, I think Adrian Peterson's numbers go down because 7 or 8 guys in the box every play is going to hurt the Sooners and that's going too be the case early on with in all likely hood Paul Thompson at QB (or so I read) My Heisman pick changes to Brady Quinn now. Good thing I didn't write my article before this.

It doesn't only change Heisman votes, but also National Champion picks. OU was definitely a top 5 team and a top 3 team in many expert circles. Now you just have to wonder how far they fall. They get Oregon in the 3rd week of the season with UAB and Washington before that. Oregon will be the test to see how far OU will fall. They play Texas two weeks after that. Peterson is definitely the more talented back over Charles, but there is a better OL at Texas. But Charles will face an 8 man front as well at first until McCoy or Snead can prove they can get the ball to Sweed. Lots of QB questions in the Big 12 South. Texas Tech and A&M will also have new QBs at the helm. It's frightful to say that Baylor has the most experienced QB in the division in Shaun Bell.

By the way, just a quick bold prediction....I am predicting that Baylor will make it to a bowl game this season.
