Arizona releases running back Edgerrin James (AP)

The Arizona Cardinals released running back Edgerrin James with one year remaining on his contract, a development expected since late in the season. The team also announced Tuesday that it released cornerback Rod Hood and defensive end Travis LaBoy. James had 794 carries for 2,895 yards and 16 touchdowns in his three seasons in Arizona.
