new mock with the trades
some changes made but a lot the same, first round 2 i've done in a while so be sure to read/comment that also
1. Houston - Reggie Bush
Biggest impact player in the draft so they have to take him.
2. New Orleans - Mario Williams
Will play DE in the 4-3 with them making Grant who is around 290 add 10 pounds and move him inside to DT. They could also eventually switch to a 3-4 if they sign a NT and put Will Smith at OLB
3. Tennessee - Matthew Leinart
McNair will Push for Young but Norm Chow will have his way and get Leinart to sit for a year and then run his offense to perfection.
4. NY Jets - V incent Young
Will sit for a year, and after this season the jets will know if pennington can play, if he can theyll cut Ramsey and have a competition between Chad and Vince for the starting job, if he can't then visa versa with Ramsey. I think it would be smart to find out who can play quickly however because Young will be the only reason Jets fans come to see their team play, his playmaking ability is perfect for new york. Can't wait to get his jersey. Then they adress the O-line need at 29 by getting maybe the second best O-lineman in the draft in Nick Mangold.
5. Green Bay - A.J. Hawk
Fills a need, he is a leader, he ran a 4.4 40, good tackler, everything they want, no brainer.
6. San Fran - D'Brickashaw Ferguson
Alex Smith jumps for joy, maybe now he'll have the time to pick the ball up and then throw it after it falls out of his hands lol. Pick is a step in the right direction for the franchise however.
7. Oakland - Jay Cutler
They wanted young but Cutler will go good in their offense. He will be able to absorb a complex playbook which they'll have and will be able to throw to all those receivers 30-40 times a game. Its hard to be a bust there right now with a decent line, lamont in the backfield, and not to mention a 6'4 4.4 40 WR with hands like glue named randy moss.
8. Buffalo - Vernon Davis
Between Ngata and Davis, DT and TE are their big needs. They take the better prospect. They can grab D with all their other picks except they need an Olineman or 2, but the passing offense is set now for losman with davis, parrish, and evans.
9. Detroit - Mike Huff
They go with the best DB in the draft here to help sure up the secondary. They need a tackle but millen wont waste a first round pick on a non skill position. Huff isnt a bad pick here though because he improves a bad defense and is versatile as far as a position. A 4.3 40 helps to.
10. Arizona Winston Justice
Now that they have edge they need someone to block for him. Could be the answer at LT for them.
11. St. Louis - Jimmy Williams
With archuleta leaving the dbackfield gets even worse (if it was possible). Willaims will definately start somewhere at either S or CB.
12. Cleveland Broderick Bunkley
Will come in and fill a whole at the DE spot as a big guy with pass rushing skills.
13. Baltimore Haloti Ngata
Talk about lucky, they get the best DT in the draft. If he can stuff the run as the only DT in a 3-4, imagine what they can stop with another guy inside helping him out in the 4-3. Who knows if Lewis stays and with the good play of Bart Scott they could even move back to the 3-4.
14. Philly - Tamba Hali
With Jeavon Kearse always hurt and the other DE spot not exactly terrific they make the move for Hali who will bring an added pass rush off the end. WR is a possibility but there is more depth at that position so they pass on Jackson.
15. Denver Donte Whitner
They get their SS to play opposite Lynch. They will probably move this pick to get Vernon Davis but if they stay put with Hali off the board Whitner will be the pick.
16. Miami - Tye Hill
With Sam Madison gone they are in great need of a CB. Saban opts for speed and gets the fastest CB in the draft. 4.3 flat
17. Minnesota Ernie Sims
Fits the cover 2 scheme they run well and should make plays to help the defense. Williams is a possibility here but they signed taylor and they probably try him out before drafting a RB.
18. Dallas - Gabe Watson
They need a NT for their new 3-4 defense and word has it they are high on him. With bunkley already off the board and a drop off in DT's, especially NT after this they go with him here and get a S and T later in the draft.
19. San Diego Marcus McNeill
Roman Oben is old, Leander Jordan is decent, besides that there is zero depth. McNeill will be the run blocking specialist on the right side of the line and open up big holes for LT who I beleive will break the singe season rushing record this year if he can stay healthy. 2,200 yards +
20. Kansas City Chad Jackson
No DT or S is worth the pick here so they grab another target to throw to besides Gonzo. They have too many number 2 recievers, and Jackson will b a true number 1.
21. New England De Angelo Williams
Truly a steal he falls this far, NE always winds up like this, since they have almost no holes they get the best player they fell and the team keeps getting better. Could be the 3rd down back this year and then when Dillon Retires he should put up pro bowl type numbers.
22. Denver Laurence Maroney
Fits the zone blocking scheme they run well because thats what minnesotta ran with him last year. The 2 back system will work good with him and Bell, because it seems as if Maroney runs more down hill where Bell is the finnesse guy. Also don't be surprised to hear Greg Eslinger's name pop up for the broncos later int he draft (same system and team as maroney and Denver's center is getting older.)
23. Tampa Bay Manny Lawson
I don't know if Bucs fans will agree but heres my argument. There are no tackles worth this spot right now. So the other need is OLB. Lawson would play the OLB position opposite brooks and would fit with his 4.4 speed in the cover two, he needs a lot of coaching as a football player but he has the athletic ability to be able to succeed. The other possibility is he competes with Spires for one DE job, and on that note could eventually succeed Simeon Rice as the main pass rusher at DE if rice is let go or retires soon which he probably will.
24. Cincinatti Leonard Pope
Bengals fans will be annoyed they don't go D but they filled the S hole with dexter Jackson. There are no good enough DT's to get drafted here. Therefore they go best available thats still fills a need and that is leonard pope. Their offense will rival Indy's of the past few years will all the firepower it has now.
25. Giants Chad Greenway
Pierce, Emmons and Torbor will be there still. Greisan is likely to leave in FA however and Barrett Green was cut. They'll see who can play better between Torbor and Emmons, then start Greenway at the other OLB spot because he is the best fo the 3. CB would be a better pick here because they could make due with torbor and emmons but greenway is to good a prospect to pass on at this pick for a guy liek youboty or cormartie or joseph. CB has depth this year so they grab one later.
26. Chicago Santonio Holmes
They get lucky he falls to them which I think he will and Grossman finally has 2 good options with M Muhammed along with him.
27. Carolina Demeco Ryans
They cut Brandon Short and Will Witherspoon signed with the Rams. So now OLB becomes a need. They get a playmaker and maybe more importantly a leader for a team who has had some off field issues wiht players.
28. Jacksonville Ashton Youboty
Everyone knows they need a CB I dont think I have to explain.
29. NY Jets Nick Mangold
They were able to take Young because they knew they could get an O-lineman like Mangold here. He can play any Line position including left tackle, so he gives the Jets some options. They'll either put him at one of the tackles or if they sign one leave him at center with Mawae leaving. He should be the anchor to the O-line for years to come and a probowler at center in the future.
30. Indianapolis - Len Dale White
No brainer they need a RB with Edge out. This pick should take about 10 seconds.
31. Seattle Charles Spencer
With Hutch leaving they badly need a gaurd. They get the best one in the draft with this pick.
32. Pittsburgh Ko Simpson
Will play the other safety opposite Polamalu and really free Troy up to make some plays. Ko shouldn't be bad himself and will probably get a lot of picks based on his awesome ball hawking skills and the constant rush pitt always provides. Peyton Manning even said they are the only team he can't talk out of a blitz with his audibles.
Round Two
1 33 Houston - Jon Scott
2 34 New Orleans - Marcedes Lewis
3 35 N.Y. Jets - Joseph Addai
4 36 Green Bay - Davin Joseph
5 37 San Francisco - Bobby Carpenter
6 38 Oakland - Mathias Kiwanuka
7 39 Tennessee - D'Qwell Jackson
8 40 Detroit - Ryan O'Callghan
9 41 Arizona - Thomas Howard
10 42 Buffalo - Eric Winston
11 43 Cleveland - Kamerion Wimbley
12 44 Baltimore - Antonio Cromartie
13 45 Philadelphia - Sinorice Moss
14 46 St. Louis - Jonathan Joseph
15 47 Atlanta - Taitusi Lutui
16 48 Minnesota - Darnell Bing
17 49 Dallas - Daniel Bullocks
18 50 San Diego - Jason Allen
19 51 Minnesota - Brodie Croyle
20 52 New England - Abdul Hodge
21 53 Washington - Max Jean-Giles
22 54 Kansas City - Claude Wroten
23 55 Cincinnati - Rodrique Wright
24 56 N.Y. Giants - Richard Marshall
25 57 Chicago - Dusty Dvoracek
26 58 Carolina - Dominque Byrd
27 59 Tampa Bay - Andrew Whitworth
28 60 Jacksonville - Anthony Fasano
29 61 Denver - Derek Hagan
30 62 Indianapolis - Rocky McIntosh
31 63 Seattle - Kelly Jennings
32 64 Pittsburgh - Martin Nance

Saints will go LB, CB, or OL in round 2.
I believe that the Jets will trade up with the Saints and take Leinart.

I like the Lawson pick...He would only play OLB in Tampa Bay, he won't compete with Spires for the DE spot.
I don't know what you mean by there isn't a good enough tackle on the board. Tampa shouldn't be looking for a DT. McFarland, Hovan, and Whyms are 3 solid DTs.
Tampa won't pass Kelly Jennings in Rd. 2, they are looking for a young CB.

I don't like Winston Justice going in the top 10. I think they'd take Jimmy Williams over Justice even if they did take Rolle last season. They had no playmakers at the CB position and maybe Rolle can finally get going as well. I just don't think Justice is a top 10 pick. They should trade down for him if anything. I could also see them taking Ngata or Bunkley before Justice as well.
Denver would have a tough decision between Maroney and White. Maroney does have the experience in the zone blocking scheme, but he's a similar runner to Tatum Bell. White is more of Anderson's style and would fill the void left by losing him. I think they would go White over Maroney for that reason.
I can't see Lawson playing OLB in a 4-3 defense. I just think he has more potential and upside at a 3-4 OLB position.
Jon Scott looked putrid at the combine and didn't workout at his pro day today which was strange. He looked clumsy and uncoordinated. I think he's been overated terribly because of the team he played for in college. Eric Winston has definitely pushed past him.
I don't like Davin Joseph over Lutui and Jean-Gilles. That said, he probably fits the zone-blocking scheme better than either of those do. I think if Green Bay wanted him then they could trade up into the late 2nd round to do so.
Cromartie and Jonathan Joseph should both be 1st round picks. You let the CBs drop too far in your draft.
I'm big on Dvoracek and definitely think he's a 2nd round pick and probably the 1st DT taken in the 2nd round. He's improved his stock every chance he's gotten to. He has the ability to be a 3-4 DE in my mind as well. I think he goes before Wroten and Wright. Wroten is yet to complete a full workout. Couple that with his off the field troubles and I think he drops more. I put his team mate Kyle Williams ahead of him. Williams has absolutely wowed scouts at the combine and at his pro day. Word is that he was the talk of LSU's pro day. I haven't liked Wright since his sophomore season. He hasn't wowed anyone with any of his workouts either. I think he's a 3rd round pick as well. I think Kedric Golston from Georgia is another guy who has moved up past both of them.
Andrew Whitworth is a 2nd day pick. I can't see him going ahead of Daryn Colledge or Jeremy Trueblood.
Joel Klopfenstein is a TE who needs to start hitting some radars. He was great at the combine and then improved upon that showing at his pro day. He ran a 4.57 40 at his pro day and is said to have not dropped a single ball during passing drills. I read that he has already improved on his blocking skills as well. I think he rates ahead of Fasono for sure and I put him ahead of Byrd as well....and it's not just because I"m a Buffs fan.
You know how I feel about Nance...no comment needed there.

I actually like Justice in the top 10 and I think he'll go there now either to the Lions or Cardinals with Hali dropping..
Jimmy Williams is falling a lot now. I have him 16 to Miami
Bunkley to Browns.. Good Man...
Reason I've really fallen of the Lawson bandwagon is he's only a 3-4 LB.. He's not good enough to play 4-3 DE or LB in my opinion.. I think New England goes RB now and Browns go Bunkley or Ngata. I have Lawson in my round 2 now...
I liked it.. Nothing way out of the world..

yea i dunno im liking this lawson to tampa pick i think he will succed as a 4-3 OLB in the cover 2 cause of his speed. He might not be able to tackle as good as the normal OLB but he may survive with some arm tackles cause he is a lot bigger than the average OLB. Also from the comments I'm thinking I have the OT's mixed up. My rankings when I made it looked like this...
Ferguson
Justice
McNeill
Scott
O'Callghan
Winston
Whitworth
Colledge - really only fits the zone blocking scheme thats why he's this low
Trueblood
Make corrections to this as you please people but be sure to say why.

Even in the cover 2 scheme he'll get eating alive against the run and his pass coverage skills are sub par which is why he was a DE in college..
If he does fit in anything else other than a 3-4 it would be a cover 2 though..
He might be the most un versatile player in this draft.

well i understand what ure saying but the thing i mean is that he just needs coaching there. He's more of a pick for the future because he won;t be good right away. He has to spend a lot of time with coaches and in Tampa Bay he has derrick brooks as an onfield coach as well. I think thats with correct coaching and a good work ethic, plus the right situation which he would have in tampa bay, he could succed in the cover 2 scheme they run. If you disagree we just have different opinions but thats my feelings
