Default UPDATED Mock from 3/10/06

NFL Draft 2006

1. With the first pick in the 2006 Draft, The Houston Texans select - Reggie Bush, RB, USC
- Playmaker Extrodinaire'. Blazing speed, stronger then many think, and his vision is superb.

2 - Saints - Matt Leinart, QB, USC - Pending on what happens during Free agency, Leinart is a QB who knows how to win. Poised, and always looking for opportunities to win games, has very good accuracy, and is one of the smartest QB's to play on a field in awhile.

3 - Titans - Vince Young, QB, Texas - Many say as of late that Cutler is at this spot - But why? - The system is already built behind an exciting QB who can choose the option to scramble and throw to receivers who run great routes. Vince Young would fit into the system perfectly, and Norm Chow can utilize him better then many would expect.

4 - Jets - D'Brickashaw Ferguson, OT, Virginia - The former cavalier didn't have the best season, due to injuries, but is a prospect too great to pass upon. Amazing size and quickness to stop speed rushers such as Dwight Freeney or Julius Peppers, but is also very strong. He is a lock for top 5.

5 - Packers - Mario Williams, DE, NC State - One of the best End Prospects to come into the draft since Peppers. 6'7, 290, and runs a 4.66. Outstanding motor, and can stop the run just as well as the pass.

6 - 49'ers - A.J. Hawk, LB, Ohio State - Vernon Davis is a possibility, but AJ Hawk is a LB that will be coveted here. With the loss of Peterson, and many other needs, the LB Core is one of the best places to start. Hawk is a leader, ran a 4.38 at his proday, and was everywhere on the field for one of the nations best defense, especially in the Tostitos Bowl against Notre Dame.

7 - Raiders - Vernon Davis, TE, Maryland - One of the best Offensive Prospects post-combine to date. He could be a carbon copy of Antonio Gates when brought into the NFL. What could help more is having Randy Moss and Jerry Porter stretching out the defense, and giving Davis a ROTY run.

8 - Bills - Haloti Ngata, DT, Oregon - With Huff off the board, This defense minded team should take one of the best run stoppers in the Draft. Mammoth Size, but very good speed. Has strength to rush the passer and break down protection schemes as well.

9 - Lions - Michael Huff, S, Texas - Huff has the tools to become the next best safety, in a very short period of time. With Dre Bly' playing along Huff, the Lions upgraded secondary could become very scary.

10 - Cardinals - Jay Cutler, QB, Vanderbilt - Proclaimed to be the "Next Brett Favre" by many scouts, he has the intangibles. Regardless, Its very possible that he becomes a just as good starter as his other counterparts in Matt Leinart and Vince Young. Only time will tell.

11 - Rams - Jimmy Williams, CB, Virginia Tech - The top CB on most boards, it is possible for him to make an immediate impact on the rams secondary. With Corey Chavous just signed, the secondary will improve in the right step by drafting williams.

12 - Browns - Manny Lawson, DE, NC State - Part of the ultra-talented End tandem with Super Mario Williams, Lawson has seen his draft stock skyrocket very quick. He might be switched to LB in the 3-4 defense, due to his great speed and admirable size (6'6). He can become a popular player in Cleveland.

13 - Ravens - LenDale White, RB, USC - Power back who can fill the shoes of Jamal Lewis. Big time runner, and very strong. Knows how to win and knows when to win. DeAngelo Williams is the other top option for this pick.

14 - Eagles - Broderick Bunkley, DT, FSU - Another player that has seen his stock go off the charts. One of the strongest players in the draft, at one of the most coveted postions. Pairing up with second year DT Mike Patterson can make the Eagles have one of the best young tandem in the NFL.

15 - Falcons - Tamba Hali, DE, Penn State - With Brady Smith lost to Free Agency, Hali can come in quick and draw attention from Patrick Kerney on the other side. The Falcons defensive line can become a very formidible factor.

16 - Dolphins - Winston Justice, OT, USC - Big need filled here, the young Justice has the talent and mammoth size to stop the speed rushers and the power rushers.

17 - Vikings - DeAngelo Williams, RB, Memphis - Too slip down this far, would be miraculous for Minnesota. Has the look of a star, and ran behind an unstable line for 4 years. Can make an immediate impact, as he is a duel threat RB who can run great, and catch pretty good too.

18 - Cowboys - Chad Jackson, WR, Florida - Johnson and Glenn are getting old. Chad Jackson could solidfy a decent unit, whos best option is usually ProBowl TE Jason Witten. Jackson is strong, and very fast. Expect a good rookie season out of him.

19 - Chargers - Donte Whitner, S, Ohio State - The Chargers biggest need is not WR, but Secondary. Too many big passing players occured, and no one expected Drayton Florence to do anything about it. The most solid player in the secondary is Quinton Jammer, and he needs some help. Thank Ohio State, or as i officially call it - DB U

20 - Chiefs - Ty Hill, CB, Clemson - With Warfield gone, and woods and wesley released, secondary help is needed. Hill can become a very good cover corner with his excellent speed. A Safety can also be desired here.

21 - Patriots - Chad Greenway, LB, Iowa - He's slipped a little, but that doesnt take away from his talent. He can be all over the field, and make plays. He should be exhilerated the team he will be making plays for is the former 2 time defending champs, New England Patriots.

22 - Broncos(From Redskins) - Santonio Holmes, WR, Ohio State - Rod Smith is up there in Age, and Lelie is inconsistent. Holmes can fill a need and become a great Wideout, a la Steve Smith.

23 - Bucs - Marcus McNeill, OT, Auburn - Superb pass blocker and run blocker. He blocked for Rookie of the Year Cadillac Williams, which is saying a lot. Its saying, he can play, and he will play at Tampa Bay.

24 - Bengals - Gabe Watson, DT, Michigan - They had a nice pass defense last year, with 20+ Interceptions, but the run defense was awful. They were tied for 5th worse in Opponents YPC, and were 13th in rushing yards allowed, at the same time letting go 115 ypg. Watson can help put a huge body in the middle and make sure it doesnt look like that.

25 - Giants - Antonio Cromartie, CB, FSU- A Troubling year in the secondary showed itself the worse in the NFC Wildcard game, Where Steve Smith burned the secondary in what should have been a triple team, but communication was lost and he was wide open in the end zone. With the signing of Sam Madison and a probowl corner, Cromartie can make the secondary stronger with his strong instinct for where a play can be made.

26 - Bears - Sinorice Moss, WR, Miami - My suprise pick of the first round. He has blazing speed, and can stretch out the defense while Muhammed can catch passes underneath. This could turn out to be a great pickup.

27 - Panthers - Leonard Pope, TE, Georgia - He can compliment Smith so well over the middle. When 70% of a teams passes goto one player, and he catches most of them, other teams have to be concerned. When a teams whole defense plays on Smith alone, and no one else catches passes, Panthers must be concerned. Byrd can play a huge role in bring Carolina back to the Super Bowl.

28 - Jaguars - Laurance Maroney, RB, Minnesota - Fragile Fred Taylor, although one of the best backs when healthy , is rarely healthy. Could also go Corner and pick up Joseph possibly, but this is a viable pick.

29 - Broncos - Ko Simpson, S, USC(South Carolina) - The second of two gamecocks, Simpson is a young, and very underestimated talent. He could be a very successful player, and will learn the ropes fast from pro bowler John Lynch.

30 - Colts - Joseph Addai, RB, LSU - With Maroney gone, Addai is a very good pass catcher, and a very talented runner. More power then most people understand, and could be a very good pick up for a Colts team that is so close to that Super Bowl Berth.

31 - Seahawks - Jonathon Joseph, CB, USouthCarolina - Andre Dyson was cut, and Marcus Trufant opposite of Joseph can become a big time young CB Tandem. Seahawks could also take LB.

32 - Steelers - DeMeco Ryan, LB, Alabama - The Leader of one of the most impressive defenses in college this year, He could bring an already tough LB Core in Pittsburgh and make it into a more upgraded unit. Could also go Carpenter.

Constructive Criticism would be greatly appreciated, ill have another one eventually. thanks

I'm not on the Manny Lawson bandwagon. I think he's went from underrated to overrated on THIS FORUM. He's no where near the prospect that Merrimen and Ware are and the Browns would likley go Bunkley in my opinion over Lawson. I don't think he's a top 15 pick.

Jimmy Williams in my opinion is someone to keep tabs on. His status in this draft continues to get worse and at 11 would be too high in my opinion. I think he goes to the Falcons or Dolphins.

Outside of those two picks I didn't see anything that bad.

Addai has been solid in workouts but I'm not sure his on field production warrants a 1st round selection. Other then that not bad.
