Default Mock for March

Im going to have another one in early april, but here we go

1. Houston Texans - Reggie Bush RB, USC- Trading away the pick is a possibility, but if not, Bush is a spectacular athlete and a player who is compared as a bigger marshall faulk. The question is can he carry the ball 20-30 times at the pro level?

2. New Orleans Saints - Matt Leinart QB, USC- I' have the feeling the saints are starting to show some interest on Cutler after a good combine. In the long run, it could be a mistake for leinart to have skipped the combine, but at the moment, Leinart stays.

3. Tennesee Titans - Jay Cutler QB, Vanderbilt - The hype surrounding him is tremendous, and Norm Chow doesnt really know how a Vince Young QB could run his offense like Cutler must likely could. Then again, doesnt Young and McNair have similirities in their gameplay?

4. New York Jets - d'brickashaw ferguson OT, virginia - This is where they probably should start, but they have growing interest in Cutler, and trading up is a possibility.

5. Green Bay Packers - A.J. Hawk OLB, Ohio State - I figure to mix things up a bit, and this is as logical as anything. Mario Williams is a large possibility as well, but Hawk is a proven playmaker on a team that needs a lot of defense. Im sure they wish they had the picks back to back

6. San Francisco - Mario Williams DE, NC State - I was urged to put Huff here, but something came to me - Julian Peterson is just about gone. Position wise, there is no relevence. Talentwise, Peterson can play every position on the field except CB(maybe sometimes) , but he specialized in LB/End. What else does this say? That they are losing strength getting to the QB. Savor the moment San Fran, one of these two players will become stars in the Bay Area.

7. Oakland - Vince Young, QBTexas - And, on the other side of the golden gate, lies Oakland, the 2nd of 3 California teams, and the 2nd of the two bad california teams. I honestly think Huff could also go here as well, with the loss of Woodson, but Young is someone to possibly think about. Lets think then - Scrambling QB's often draw attention, imagine randy moss running a sharp slant , and Young ran that way, drawing a few LB's and the Corner starting to come off Moss a little bit. Theres a nice first down.

8. Buffalo Bills - Haloti Ngata, DT Oregon - This seems to be the trendy pick of every draft (the trendy pick that doesnt have the names Bush or Leinart in them) Due to the Bills having to cut oldie Sam Adams, they figure this will be the replacement. Mammoth of a man standing in the middle of the RB, and the secondary. I'd take cover.

9. Detroit Lions - Michael Huff S, Texas - Finally, he is taken. Yeah yeah, the next ronnie lott supposedly. I want to see it first, but i definitely feel he will be a prized player in the league. OH, and some other possibilitys here are Santonio Holmes and Chad Jackson.

10. Arizona Cardinals - DeAngelo Williams,RB Memphis - I'd give him my vote for Offensive Rookie of the Year, just because the guy played at memphis and had so many yards. Interesting stuff here as well, if he is picked in the top 10, and Rodney Carney of Memphis Basketball is picked in the top 10, it will be the first time any Memphis Record Setters have gone in the top 10 of both drafts ever, unless i screwed up information

11. St Louis Rams - Jimmy Williams,CB/S Virginia Tech - Vernon Davis is the trendy pick here, but Williams gives something the rams need again - a secondary, which they really never had to begin with unless you count Aeneas Williams.

12. Cleveland Browns - Winston Justice, OT USC - Tremendous Talent, if he had stayed another year, he'd be the first OT taken, in my opinion. Oh well, i'd love to be the 12th player picked in the draft. The browns could use an offensive lineman, or a linebacker, or a defensive lineman.

13. Baltimore Ravens - LenDale White, RB USC - It might be me, but is USC possibly going to break Miami's record of 1 round draft picks taken 2 years ago? Oh the possibilities. LenDale White reminds me of a young jamal lewis. The kind of player who can run the ball successfully through the offensive line and bruise people. A guy who can show leadership, like his cousin Chauncey Billups(of Detroit Pistons). I think its a great pick for the Ravens, maybe their QB will come to play all year.

14. Philidelphia Eagles - Chad Jackson WR, Florida-At the start of the 05 season i thought i'd be making the mock draft with philidelphia having the 29th pick or something, but 5 months and 14 picks earlier then the Bronco's pick, is where the Eagles are. On topic, Im sold with Jackson. He was a great player in Florida, overlooked though due to an inconsistent overall team. Reminds me in ways of a stronger Chad Johnson, and no its not because they have the same initials or even the same first name. Its because thats what he reminds me of.

15. Atlanta Falcons - Tye Hill, CB, Clemson - If Jimmy Williams DID happen to fall this far, it would unite two Virginia Tech corners in Williams and Hall. On a team that is filled with Tech kiddies (Vick, Schaub and i think 2 more) this team might just be called the Hokies Reunion Team.
But this is Tye Hill, and Clemson is a Hokie Rival. Tye, run as fast as you can boy..on the field and off the field. Otherise, hes a nice complement to DeAngelo

16. Miami Dolphins - Chad Greenway, OLB, Iowa - Nick Saban got the memo. He knows whats up. Former Assistant Kirk Ferrentz coached Greeny, and im sure they've talked about it. Actually, they have. Greenway is easy to coach, and is a leader on that field. Next to an Aging Zach Thomas, who still makes plays.

17. Minnesota Vikings - Ernie Sims, OLB, FSU - If they happen to sign an Edgerrin James, or a Shaun Alexander type guy then Maroney isnt purple and gold. Ernie had a great combine, and he was a somewhat overlooked linebacker, due to AJ Nicholson being around. In the tampa cover 2 the vikes are using this year, they need speedy linebackers. Sims flys. One question for ernie though. Wheres bert?

18. Dallas Cowboys - Marcus McNeill, OT, Auburn - Santonio Holmes is a good pick too, but this offensive line is really, bad. Bledsoe not protected = Bledsoe throwing good passes to Champ Bailey's or Sean Taylor's or Brian Dawkins's. So protect him if you even want to smell the playoffs. McNeill can get the job done. Carnell or Ronnie didnt have any problems with him.

19. San Diego Chargers - Ashton Youboty, CB Ohio State - Many teenage heartthrobing girls will flock to chargers games at the sound of the name "Ashton". They will get to see him, one problem - Not the same Ashton they are thinking of..yea, the one that made girls want to wear slacks just watching that 70's show. I'd rather watch the chargers game. They might actually be winning a superbowl next year, because of this pick. Hes young, but he can get the job done.

20. Kansas City Chiefs - Tamba Hali, DE Penn State - Unless Antonio Cromartie is the hot pick, or Tye Hill or Ashton are here, this is the pick. Hes one of the best available defensive players on the board, and i think hes a talent that could be a steal. Yeah, he wasnt rated that high to begin with - thats my point.

21. New England Patriots - Darnell Bing, S, USC - Rodney is getting kinda old. Unless there is a corner available thats worth it..this or a LB is a good pick. Hell, if Bing could possibly work at corner, it would make belicheck look like a genius..ohhh wait..he is one. Bing can run, and he hammers people. Thats kind of like Ty Law, in a disturbing, scary way.

22. Denver Broncos (From Washington) - Gabe Watson, DT Michigan - I've read some thoughts from Scouts on Gabe. "He has a lot of potential for the next level, he just needs to lose a few pounds and have more endurance." Thanks scout, thats the plan. Anywho, hes a big guy in the middle of a big pressure driving line. The horses like to blitz, blitz away.

23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - DeMeco Ryans, OLB Alabama - Theres a possibility Simeon and Derrick might get cut. Need a replacement? Here you go. Mathias Kiuenka is always a good pick as well, pending if you want to develop a great talent for 2-4 years(like a Kyle Vanden Bosch)

24. Cincinatti Bengals - Vernon Davis, TE Maryland - Say what you want, yes they need a Defensive Tackle. But there are a few on Free Agency, and there are some good 2nd rounders that should fall to them. How about they just pick Davis, and let them become the next best thing to the Colts Offense? Sound good? K

25. New York Giants - Broderick Bunkley, DT, FSU - This guy bench pressed 25 pounds past my weight 44 times? Yikes. Solid Senior Bowl performance helps a lot, this one could be a nice late first round steal. He also shares the same name as Matthew Broderick (or, Ferris Bueller)

26. Chicago Bears - Leonard Pope, TE, Georgia - Phew! I was worried a georgia player wouldnt be picked in the first round for the first time in forever! Maybe the Bears can generate some offense instead of being a bulemic team. The defensive eats up the opposing offense, and the bears offense spits the opportunity right out. Things should change, you hope.

27. Carolina Panthers - Dominique Byrd, TE, USC - Once again bringing up the record by Miami, most first rounders from one college..its a possibility people! Byrd is someone who can catch passes in the middle, so maybe they will use him come playoff time next year instead of darting 20 passes to steve smith a game (if it works, be my guest.)

28. Jacksonville Jaguars - Mathias Kiweunka, DE, Boston College - Bringing that accent down south is always a good thing. Cultural Diffusion, is what its called i believe. When he goes to the store he can ask for a nice cup of Cawfee. When hes on the field tackling Peyton Manning he can ask If he likes playing near Bawston.

29. Denver Broncos - Nick Mangold, C, Ohio State - I was reading a few other mock drafts, and this is a good serious pick. Tom Nalen is near dead, and how long can he last out there? Mangold, should be able to become a good deciple of Nalens work, after all..the guys name is Mangold..and Mangold was an outstanding snapper at OSU.

30. Indianapolis Colts - Laurance Maroney, RB Minnesota - The Colts figured they could press the Easy Button and they'd get a Back who can take James place almost right off the bat. I better go to staples soon.

31. Seattle Seahawks - Manny Lawson, DE/LB NC State - Playing on the other side of a rhinocerous of a player is easy. Its easier when your one too. Lawson and Mario W destroyed opponents on defense. Lawson should fit in perfectly, and hey..maybe he can be another "wow , is that rookie really that good!" just like Mr. Totupa is.

32. Pittsburgh Steelers - Santonio Holmes, WR, Ohio State - Im pretty sure whether they go defense or offense, it will probably be an ohio statesman. Carpenter is the other choice. If randle el decides to leave, this is a lock. If he doesnt, this isnt a lock. Still, it could be a smart pick with Cowha.

and thats it. Criticism may be held. I didnt feel like giving everyone scouting reports cause im sure all of you know who everyone is and hear their names just about every other day. Kinda a semi-comedic mock draft, have fun replying to this haha..pz

yeah, i was just mixing it up. I'd have davis goto the rams any other day, but it seemed defense is what they should go. and all the other teams after have good tight ends already.

Ernie Sims, Nick Mangold, and Dominque Byrd are too high.

3. Where do you get that Norm Chow isn't impressed with Vince Young? I think Chow would prefer Leinart but I don't know about Cutler. McNair is like a father figure to Young and that makes the most sense for them to bring him in and let Steve continue his tutelage. Top 5 is too high for Cutler. I see a team trading out of the top 5 to take him, but not Tennessee.

12. I think that's a little too high for Winston Justice. Plus, I can't see Cleveland passing on some guys who can help strengthen their defense. Cleveland has no one that can get pressure on the passer. They only had 23 sacks last year and have to fix that problem. Tamba Hali or Manny Lawson would make sense.

20. I think this is too low for Hali. I think he goes to either Philly or Atlanta over either one of their picks, Jackson and Hill respectively. Hali is a top 15 talent with superior strength and game speed at the DE position.

24. Davis is too low. You've already admitted that. I think he's a top 10 pick myself. Someone is going to take him there.

25. Bunkley is 10 picks too low in my opinion. Again, Atlanta or Philly could use a guy like Bunkley and I think he's strong enough to play a 3-4 DE in Cleveland as well.

31. Do you have Lawson playing OLB in Seattle? He's too small to be an every down DE. I think he's a better pick for a 3-4 OLB. He's this years version of DeMarcus Ware and Shawne Merriman. I think that, along with his 4.43 40, makes him a top 15 pick.

Manny Lawson would fit better somewhere besides Seattle, and 31. is too low for him.
