Revised Edition- mockmenace (tell me what you think)
This is my second mock draft- I appreciate all of the comments and criticism given from my last one because it has helped me to dig a little deeper to find out what teams are needing and how this whole thing works. You may not like my picks, but please consider the teams drafting and their needs first. Well, I hope you enjoy this mock as much as I enjoyed putting it together- peace.
Team - Player | Description
1. San Francisco 49ers - Alex Smith, QB Utah | The Niners get there franchise heading in the right direction with a true leader that has the smarts to be under center. Mike Nolan and Co. have spent much time with him and in the end, go with there gut feeling.
2. Miami Dolphins - Ronnie Brown, RB Auburn | With Smith being gone here, the Dolphins bite the bullet and take a chance on Brown- although he has never been the starter for a college progaram for an entire season, he has all of the intangibles that matter- size, speed, strength, smarts, pass blocking skills, and good character. ATTENTION: there also have been talks that R. Williams would like to come back and \"help\" Saban and the Dolphins again- Saban has a lot of work to do between now and draft day.
3. Minnesota Vikings - Mike Williams, WR USC | With many talks stirring that Mike may be gone before they can nab him, Minnesota trades up to obtain there man. Culpepper and Co. will be pleased.
4. Chicago Bears - Braylon Edwards, WR Michigan | I know that there has been much debate about what Da Bears will do here but let\'s look at the facts: 1)Booker to Dolphins, 2)Terrell let go, 3)Moose signed on. That means they only have a No.1 target for Grossman to chunk it to, so the Bears smile big as they take the savy Edwards here.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Carnell Williams, RB Auburn | With Mike Williams gone, who Gruden and Allen coveted, the Bucs snatch up another Williams. Gruden loves the 1/2 running back tandems, (Garner and Wheatley in Oakland) and Willams and Pittman will give him that- not to mention Alstott. Ouch- look out run defenses!!!
6. Tennessee Titans - Pac-Man Jones, CB West Virginia | The Titans are in a tight spot here because they need defensive help now. They may attempt to trade down here like last year but I see them picking up \"Pac-Man\". He is a lethal weapon both in coverage and returning kicks.
7. Cleveland Browns - Shawne Merriman, LB Maryland | No- I\'m not crazy. Crennel and Co. have traded down and acquired more picks and at the same time landed the anchor of there 3-4 defense for some time to come with this pick.
8. Arizona Cardinals - Cedric Benson, RB Texas | Dennis Green has always been about taking the best talent available, regardless of position. With that said, he will be flipping a coin betwenn Benson and Longhorn teammate Johnson. Benson gets the nod.
9. Washington Redskins - Antrel Rolle, CB Miami (FL) | Wow!!! Imagine another Hurricane in Gibbs secondary- Ouch!!! They will pick up the very physical and confident Rolle to replace the loss of Smoot.
10. Detroit Lions - Derrick Johnson, LB Texas | Matt Millen and Co. continue there draft dominance from last year with this pick. I mean, the top defensive palyer falling to the 10th pick- what a deal.
11. Dallas Cowboys - Marcus Spears, DE LSU | I know that many people believe that James should be the first selected here but Spears has been climbing draft boards like crazy. He can play well in a 3-4 scheme with his size too.
12. San Diego Chargers (From NYG) - Travis Johnson, DT Florida St. | Once again the 3-4 dictates the pick as Johnson\'s size, strength, and upside are too much for San Diego to pass on here. He will upgrade this unit and really help them stop the run.
13. Houston Texans - Alex Barron, OT Florida State | Pace said no so Houston nabs Barron instead. The bottom line is that Carr needs protection and Texas is willing to oblige.
14. Carolina Panthers - Troy Williamson, WR South Carolina | Although WR Clayton would be a better route runner, GM Hurney is used to size differences in wideouts (i.e. Moose and Smith). Williamson\'s YAC stat is also mind boggling- considering the level of competition in the SEC. Although raw, they will work with him.
15. Kansas City Chiefs - Erasmus James, DE Wisconsin | With defense being the focus of there draft this year, and free agency, look for the Chiefs to select James who will bolster a line for years to come. Watch out for Chiefs in 05-06.
16. New Orleans Saints - Thomas Davis, S Georgia | With Tebucky Jones headed to Miami, and there need at LB, look for the Saints to nab Davis as soon as there time starts. Davis\' size makes him a possible conversion to LB, and with his speed, opposing wideouts won\'t come over the middle much in 05-06.
17. Cincinnati Bengals - Heath Miller, TE Virginia | I know that it is a reach here, but many pro drafts analists believe that the Bengals will add Miller to open up there offense even more. The fact that he can block fairly well too is an added bonus.
18. Minnesota Vikings - David Pollack, DE Georgia | With his relentless motor, great character, and sound technique look for the Vikings to add him to a young but promising D-Line.
19. St. Louis Rams - Jammal Brown, OT Oklahoma | With Kyle Turley not expected to be back, look for the Rams to give Bulger some added protection.
20. Dallas Cowboys (from Buf) - Kevin Burnett, LB Tennessee | With the loss of Coakley and Parcells unsure if Dat can keep up in the new scheme, the Cowboys land Bennett in Dallas.
21. Jacksonville Jaguars - Mark Clayton, WR Oklahoma | The Jags were in a lot of close games last year and needed a little push to get them to the playoffs- the push is here as Clayton\'s route running and over the middle antics slip the Jags in this year. Williams, Wilford, And Clayton- wow what a trio of talent.
22. Baltimore Ravens - Roddy White, WR UAB | Ravens GM Newsome has a nack for finding unpolished talent and White can be the guy to send there offense and there team back into the Super Bowl.
23. Seattle Seahawks - Dan Cody, DE Oklahoma | Chike Okefore left for Arizona, so the Seahawks opt for a fearless leader in Cody.
24. Green Bay Packers - Aaron Rodgers, QB California | I know it seems crazy but I just have my gut feeling that if Alex goes first and Cleveland trades, Rodgers will fall this far...that is, if Dallas doesn\'t nab him first. GB\'s successor has arrived.
25. Denver Broncos - Shaun Cody, DT USC | Eventhough they picked up Warren via free agency, I can\'t help but think that Cody would work out better for them- he can play either position, he has the ability to grow more, and his motor never stops.
26. New York Jets - Other, Put name in explanation -> | The Jets welcome a jet as Fabian Washington dons the hunter green and white. His forty time was in the 4.28 range and scouts are drooling over his potential. He may be gone before #20 but I see him as a great fit for this ever improving defense.
27. Atlanta Falcons - Other, Put name in explanation -> | Welcome Khalif Barnes Atlanta- I know Vick and the offense will welcome hime as it will give more time for them to open up the air attack and spread the ball around even more-nice pick here.
28. San Diego Chargers - Barrett Ruud, ILB Nebraska | If WR White or Clayton are available look for them to snatch them up but I believe that they will be gone before #28. Ruud would be a nice fit for this 3-4 defense and his measurables are off the charts.
29. Indianapolis Colts - Carlos Rogers, CB Auburn | The last of Auburn\'s trio finds himself in a Tony Dungy defensive scheme that has a chance to go all of the way. Of the three Aubie\'s, he has the chance to taste Super Bowl first.
30. Pittsburgh Steelers - Justin Miller, CB Clemson | If TE Miller is still available here, they will gobble him up but the other Miller is the obvious choice here. Although raw, he has great feet, tremendous speed, and is a return threat. He could spare Randle El and give him the oppurtunity to make up for the departure of Burress.
31. Philadelphia Eagles - Other, Put name in explanation -> | Eventhough he is raw, Demarcus Ware has been turning heads since long before the Senior Bowl and with the lose of Reese and Ware\'s ability to rush the passer, Andy Reid and Co., will have fun mixing up his schemes.
32. New England Patriots - Matt Roth, DE Iowa | Let\'s face it, it doesn\'t matter who they get! They are not the Super Bowl Champs for nothing. But for this pick I see them going for help in the DE/LB postion and Roth fits both of those needs- not to mention his name just sounds intimidating...they may also seek o-line help due to the offseason. If that is the case, OL D.Baas or E.Brown could go here.

I quickily wanted to add some corrections to this draft. The trade of Minnesota moving up to get Williams will not change and neither will there second 1st pick. However, they will trade there second round to the Browns, which the Browns will use to upgrade the quarterback position or their secondary...still a good move none the less.
