Default Vernon Davis # 2?

Rumor has it drew brees could be a saint or dolphin. If he ends up in New Orleans, I could see vernon davis being drafted at number 2. Brees did awesome with a premier TE in gates and should have the same success with a stud like Davis. They have 2 former first rounders in Charles Grant and Will Smith, who are both decent. That's why I think Davis over Williams, unless they put smith at OLB. Hawk could go there but Davis is probably the best TE prospect EVER. Peoples thoughts???

wow, i dont know about #2......if they wanted him that bad the saints would trade down to about 6, 7, or possibly 8......

if they do sign brees and cant trade down i think they'll take a serious look at D'Brick.......i can see them looking at Davis, but they'll trade down to take him

true ferguson is a possibility but they just drafted jammal brown and Gandy isn't bad. it is possible but when I look at it there are probably better free agent tackles on the market than TE's, and brees to Davis is very enticing. Might see them swap with the jets who would take leinart.

Jammal Brown and D'Brickashaw Ferguson at tackles sounds too good to pass up if your the Saints. I'm sure a lot of teams are going to look at the Texans and not build their team like Houston did. If Brees goes to the Saints which looks doubtful. Looks like Brees will sign with Miami in my opinion. Saints will draft D'Brick or Leinart.

New Orleans has a good young tight end anyways. Zachary Hilton had a fairly good year for a TE without a QB throwing to him.

The team used a first round pick on Jammal Brown last year and he did a good job, so D'Brick would be the eventual replacement to Gandy. However, that's hardly an area of need, because those are 2 pretty darn good tackles on a team that has a ton of holes. I'm a monster Vernon Davis fan, but #2 does seem awfully high. My prediction right now is that Brees signs with Miami, so this becomes a moot point....but if not, then I'm thinking the Saints will trade down with a team that wants Bush or Leinart (obviously one will be available).

The Saints will not go OLB. They just signed Scott Fujita.

All of these are creative ideas, but i have to believe that if they get Bress the Saints will have to go defense and can not afford to pass on the best defensive player in the draft (Mario Williams). I realize that they already have 2 good DEs, but seriously, who in their right mind could go defense with the next Julius Peppers available and not pick him. Although if anyone could it would be the Saints...
