Since I'm not a Cutler fan at all, I'll make the argument against him. When I look at Cutler, I see J.P. Losman. Very good arm, somewhat mobile, can make unbelievable throws.... but at the same time, he's impatient with the ball and will rely solely on his arm to make impossible throws, which worked in college but will not in the NFL. He's shaky mechnically and very raw in general, so he's going to need a good quarterbacks coach and a patient head coach. He was unimpressive in the Senior Bowl, and really the only reason people started upgrading his stock was that he had an excellent first day of practice (by the end of the week, Mel Kiper was apologetically saying "he had a pretty good, but not great, week of practices"). Chris Mortenson has jumped on his bandwagon and called him better than Leinart and Young, but Mortenson is a joke when it comes to analyzing the draft. Two years ago he flat out said Losman is better than Eli Manning, and we all know he claimed Matt Jones was the best player in the draft last year. He's just looking for publicity, and it's having the residual effect of making people believe Cutler is somehow becoming a better prospect by the day, which he is not. Cutler may be a good quarterback down the road, but it's going to take a lot of coaching, a lot of patience, and good talent around him. Generally when you say that about a quarterback, you're talking about a future bust; and unless Cutler gets drafted into a great situation, I believe that's exactly what he'll be.
