Default 1st Mock

1. Detroit Lions -- Matt Stafford, QB, Georgia

Not that he deserves to go #1, but the Lions need to start over and they will do that by grabbing a QB. The Lions offensive line is far to be desired, but they do have some talent. I think is Foster was moved to guard he could be a decent player. He's just too slow to play RT. Cherilus can still be a productive tackle.

2. St. Louis Rams -- Andre Smith, OT, Alabama

Smith is a great run blocking tackle and what a burst he would provide to the Rams running game. Stephen Jackson is the playboy running back on this team and the offensive line needs some help. If opponents would respect the run next year, Bulger may be able to get back on track with Holt and Avery.

3. Kansas City Chiefs -- Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas

The Chiefs pass rush left with Jared Allen. Glenn Dorsey is a good player in the middle, but what KC lacked was a consistant pass rush off the end. Tambi Hali should be able to get free with less double teams on his side. QB is a big need too. Tyler Thigpin played well last season, but he simply didn't win game, which is understandable with this team.

4. Seattle Seahawks -- Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech

The Seahawks get arguably the best playmaker in the draft here. Seattle does have some money tied up in the current sub-par WR core, but it would be tough to pass on Crabtree. He's arguably an immediate "Calvin Johnson like" playmaker which Seattle desperately needs.

5. Cleveland Browns -- Aaron Curry, LB, Wake Forest

The Browns have the pieces in place for an offense that could be very good besides a young RB. However, the defense needs some work. The defensive line has some real talent but beyond that they fall short. D'Qwell Jackson played a great season, but give that defense another LB and they have a pretty solid group. Curry would be a big boost to the defense. Don't rule out Malcolm Jenkins as the secondary needs some help too.

6. Cincinnati Bengals -- Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia

The Bengals down fall for arguably the last two seasons has been poor offensive line play. Carson had troubles in 2007 with protection and it continued last season for Ryan Fitzpatrick and the run game for most of the season. Monroe would not be forced to play LT if Levi Jones can play better then he has. So Monroe could "relax" at the RT position while helping both the run and pass game.

7. Oakland Raiders -- Malcolm Jenkings, CB, Ohio State

Theres a chance that Aso could be gone next season and that fact alone is too scary for the Oakland defense. Even if Aso does return corner is a real need with Hall cut. Jenkings teaming with Aso is a current pass heavy division would really improve the Raiders chances to win more games.

8. Jacksonville Jaguars -- Rey Maualuga, LB, USC

It was very public that Mike Peterson has almost run out with time in Jacksonville, and the defense needs some help. If there were another offensive lineman that warranted this selection I would argue that Jacksonville would go there. There is a chance that Jason Smith could increase if draft stock. For now Maualuga is the selection as he should help improve Jacksonville's defense.

9. Green Bay Packers -- Aaron Maybin, DE/OLB, Penn State

With Dom Capers comes the 3-4 and the needs for an outside linebackers. I believe Aaron Kampman is a good enough player to play DE in the 3-4, so a need for the pass rusher from the linebacker position would be needed. Maybin is a great player and the Packers get great value at this pick.

10. San Francisco 49ers -- Mark Shanchez, QB, USC

The Alex Smith experiement has failed. Mike Singletary knows to rebuild this team he needs a talented young single caller at QB, and what an opportunity to take the kid who played just south. Shanchez is the best QB in this draft to me and the 49ers get good value here.

11. Buffalo Bills -- Jason Smith, OT, Baylor

So much for Jason Peters playing well last season. Its a joke he made the Pro Bowl. I beleive the Bills gave up were 22nd in sacks allowed. Smith is at least an upgrade over 30 year old Langston Walker.

12. Denver Broncos -- BJ Raji, DT, Boston College

Denver needs a true RB yes but there is still good value in the second round or quite possible free agency. Also, there is talent on the team at RB. Peyton Hillis and Ryan Torain are both solid young players. However, Denver has little or no talent at DT. Marcus Thomas has yet to have a sack in two years and Dwayne Robertson is due alot of money. Also, if Denver is to play the 3-4, they needs a big tackle that could play the nose. Raji, at 330 lbs. should be able to do so.

13. Washington Redskins -- Everette Brown, DE, Florida State

Jason Talyor didn't really provide any pash rush which the team was hoping for. Brown is a versitile player that can move around and possibly play LB. Andre Carter is 30 and only had 4 sacks last year. An improved pass rush could help out a fairly talented secondary.

14. New Orleans Saints -- James Laurenitis, LB, Ohio State

Jonathan Vilma is a free agent and may not be back with the team next season. Laurenitis provides another very talented LB and would make sure there is no drop off of talent at the LB position.

15. Houston Texans -- Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois

Phillip Buchannon is a free agent but has stated he wants to remain in Houston. Even if he does, the secondary needs an upgrade. Davis is a very physical corner. Im not sure if he can play safety, but if so his value increases.

16. San Deigo Chargers -- Knowshawn Marino, RB, Georgia

Even if Tomlinson can return for a more successful season, an additional back would be needed. Sproles may be looking for his payday. It can never hurt for this offense to add an extra threat for what seems to be Philip Rivers' team now.

17. New York Jets -- DJ Moore, CB, Vanderbilt

Darnelle Revis had a very good season but still needs some help in the secondary. The Jets could also use another middle linebacker to play beside David Harris, but other then that the rest of the LB's and defensive line pretty well. Moore has had 6 interceptions that last two seasons at Vanderbilt and would make the Jets happy with those numbers as a rookie.

18. Chicago Bears -- Jermey Maclin, WR, Missouri

The Bears WR was exposed as a weak link on offense. Devin Hester still has work to do at the position and Brandon Llyod did all he could, but its still not enough. Maclin would provide an extra target with TE Olsen for whomever is QB.

19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers -- Chris Wells, RB, Ohio State

The third buckeye goes to the Bucs to help a running game regain its identity to pound the rock, even though Gruden is gone. Carnell Williams may never truely return from yet another knee injury, Warrick Dunn is 34 with his best days behind him, and Earest Graham is coming off an injured reserve season. Beanie, though injury prone himself, is still a very good RB and should help out the Tampa offense.

20. Detroit Lions (from Dallas) -- Michael Oher, OT, Virginia

I mentioned earlier that Detroit had some decent talent of the offense line. For Detroit to be successful, Cherilus, Oher here with this pick, Buckus will be 3 very good tackles to keep Stafford upright and plenty of balls thrown to Calvin Johnson.

21. Philadelphia Eagles -- Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU

Another defensive end to team with Trent Cole and the emerging Victor Abiamiri should create a more dreaded defensive line. Juqua Parker had a good season but he will be 31 this coming season as well as Cole. Jackson privodes some nice youth to the defensive line.

22. Minnesota Vikings -- Eben Britton, OT, Arizona

Last draft we saw a run for tackles and I beleive we could see the very same this draft. Minnesota needs a dominating RT and Britton could fit that need. The offensive line always needs to be on top of their game to provide for the ever explosive Adrian Peterson.

23. New England Patriots -- Brian Cushing, LB, USC

Jarryd Mayo provided an excelland boost to the linebacking core but Cushing would continue to add youth to the group. Depending on whose stock increases or decreases, secondary help would be a nice pick here too.

24. Atlanta Falcons -- Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Oklahoma State

Though Matt Ryan had an excelland rookie season, adding a check down target would only continue Ryan's success. Alge Crumpler was a big loss and there was no replacement. Pettigrew would make the Falcons offense as dangerous as ever.

25. Miami Dolphins -- Michael Johnson, DE, Georgia Tech

Kendall Langford had a very good rookie season. Adding the physical specimen in Johnson could work well with Langford and possibly Merling. Vonnie Holliday is near the end of his time. I may be wrong in that Johnson can play the 3-4, but his physical size says that he may be able too.

26. Baltimore Ravens -- Clint Sintim, LB, Virginia

The Ravens have free agents Ray Lewis, Bart Scott, and Terrell Suggs to resign in the offseason. It may be impossible to keep all three. Sintim would fill in any vacancies and provide some new youth to the linebacking core.

27. Indianapolis Colts -- Alex Mack, G/C, California

Joesph Addai had his worst season as a pro as well as the interior line for the Colts. In key situations the Colts were unable to pick up short yardage distances. Mack would help the running game as well work with Richards in creating a pair of young guards that could help replace Saturday once he retires and the struggling running game.

28. Philadelphia Eagles (from Panthers) -- William Moore, S, Missouri

Adding Moore will help a solid secondary rotation for the Eagles whom need to be finding an eventual replacement for Brian Dawkins.

29. New York Giants -- Larry English, LB, Northern Illinois

The Giants have a strong need for a player whom can rush the passer while providing some coverage skills, and of course the ability to stop the run. This would allow for flexibility in the play calling. The perfect fit is a English. Though is he a hybrid type, English provides depth to the defense. He could a speed linebacker with the ability to stop the run.

30. Tennesse Titans -- Nate Davis, QB, Ball State

I know, I know. I realize Nate is a third round pick but I got to include him in the mock. Tennessee has 40 year old Collins and Vince Young whom seems to be one of the biggest busts in recent draft history. In steps the stud from Indiana to right all that is wrong at the QB spot for the future of the Titans.

32.** Arizona Cardinals -- LeSean McCoy, RB, Pittsburgh

Edge is probably going to leave Arizona even if they win the Super Bowl. McCoy is the perfect compliment to Tim Hightower.

32.** Pittsburgh Steelers -- Peria Jerry, DT, Ole Miss

Jerry will be able to provide rotation with the Steelers DE's and should fit perfectly in with the 3-4 at end.

Aaron Kampman as a 3-4 DE would be a disaster because he's a great pass rusher and 3-4 DE's usually don't excel at that. I think they'll alternate him as a outside backer at times and 4-3 DE. They'll find ways for him to get on the field and optimize his abilities.

With that said the pick makes sense either way.

Tyson Jackson is a 3-4 DE in my opinion. I like him a lot, but I don't think he'll be on 4-3 radars unless they see him as a DT and Philly has three good ones with Broderick Bunkley, Mike Patterson, and Trevor Laws.

I think Brandon Pettigrew's stock has gotten a lot better. He looks good at the Senior Bowl, but with Jermaine Gresham out, he'll see his stock rise. I think probably top 20.

I kind of think LeSean McCoy is the best back in the draft the more I think about it, but he probably goes No. 3 like you have. I think McCoy to Arizona is a perfect fit.

I thought that mock made sense though. A lot of picks that are very possible.

With the Rex Ryan hire I see the Jets definitley going defense with their first round pick unless its a QB. So I like the Moore pick.

In my opinion McCoy is going to go higher then you have him going. Michael Johnson as well.

Nate Davis wont go in the first round. He had a chance but he finished the season poorly and I dont see him going to Tennessee. It's not impossible that Young gets traded but I doubt it would happen this off season.

I wrote this directly on the forum without proof-reading it.
