bbbtalb0 Mock
Get at it.
1. Detroit Lions - Matthew Stafford l QB l Georgia
Could be a LT here but I'm not buying it. I think they go with the #1 QB, whether it's Stafford or Sanchez.
2. St. Louis Rams - Andre Smith l OT l Alabama
Smith is massive and a good replacement for Orlando Pace. With Jake Long, Joe Thomas, and Ryan Clady all performing well right away at the next level in recent years, teams won't shy away from OTs early.
3. Kansas City Chiefs - Aaron Curry l LB l Wake Forest
Curry is a dominating playmaker that could improve that defense. However, I don't think they'll be satisfied with Thigpen at QB. If Stafford is here then I believe he's the pick. If not, then Curry it is then a QB like Freeman in the 2nd.
4. Seattle Seahawks - Michael Crabtree l WR l Texas Tech
I think this would be the logical choice. Their receiving corps has been depleated by injury and Crabtree is the best player in the draft.
5. Cleveland Browns - Aaron Maybin l DE/OLB l Penn St.
Maybin is a great athlete who'd be an excellent fit for the 3-4 scheme. He still needs to bulk up, however.
6. Cincinnati Bengals - Brian Orakpo l DE l Texas
The Bengals have a lot of needs and could go in a number of directions here. Orakpo is probably the best player left on the board and he fills a need since Cincinnati has had trouble rushing passer.
7. Oakland Raiders - Malcolm Jenkins l CB l Ohio St.
Nnamdi Asomaugha's contract is up and he's likely to be franchised. I don't expect Al Davis to do the sensible thing and go after a top OT like Monroe or Oher.
8. Jacksonville Jaguars - Eugene Monroe l OT l Virginia
The Jags were hammered with injuries on the O-Line and could use some help in that area. Rey Maualuga is another player I could see here as Mike Peterson's potential replacement.
9. Green Bay Packers - Everette Brown l DE l Florida St.
The Pack could use some help along the D-Line. Kampman is solid on one side, but they could use an upgrade on the other.
10. San Francisco 49ers - Mark Sanchez l QB l USC
Many of you may think this is a stretch right now but I expect Sanchez's stock to start soaring. With Sam Bradford returning to school, I think Sanchez could eventually go even higher.
11. Buffalo Bills - Rey Maualuga l LB l USC
Maualuga is an animal and should be a great LB in this league for many years. With Jermaine Greshem returning to Oklahoma, no TEs have legitimate value here.
12. Denver Broncos - Knowshon Moreno l RB l Georgia
Moreno is a great talent who would fit right in place at Denver. The injuries those RBs suffered throughout the season make this a huge need.
13. Washington Redskins - Michael Oher l OT l Ole Miss
Oher is a big powerful mauler and Washington needs some beef in the trenches.
14. New Orleans Saints - Vontae Davis l CB l Illinois
The Saints pass defense is awful and they've needed a CB for some time now.
15. Houston Texans - D.J. Moore l CB l Vanderbilt
Dunta Robinson could be a free agent and I don't think they'll go D-Line here since Super Mario and Okoye look like a good pair.
16. San Diego Chargers - Eben Britton l OT l Arizona
Britton is big and could be an upgrade over Clary at the Rt spot.
17. New York Jets - William Moore l S l Missouri
Kerry Rhodes is solid but the other safety spot could use an upgrade. This pick could also be a CB to pair with Darrelle Revis.
18. Chicago Bears - Michael Johnson l DE l Georgia Tech
The Bears just need to continue to bring in quality pass rushers and Johnson has the potential to be the best in this years class.
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Jeremy Maclin l WR l Missouri
I'm reluctant to put Maclin near the top 10 because many teams shied away from WRs in the first round last year, but Maclin is just electric. Joey Galloway has hit the wall and Antonio Bryant could leave via free agency.
20. Detroit Lions (from DAL) - Jason Smith l OT l Baylor
Detroit takes the route of getting the signal caller first, then the LT. Smith has good value at this point.
21. Arizona Cardinals - Chris Wells l RB l Ohio St.
Arizona really needs a RB because Kurt Warner can’t lead this team to victory forever. Eventually, their non-existant running game needs to kick in and Ken Whisenhunt has a history of running the rock.
22. Minnesota Vikings – Alex Mack l C l California
Matt Birk is set to become a free agent and Mack is a good replacement at Center.
23. New England Patriots – Clint Sintim l OLB l Virginia
Sintim is a good fit here in the 3-4 scheme and could get quality playing time even with veterans Vrable and Colvin involved.
24. Atlanta Falcons – B.J. Raji l DT l Boston College
Raji is a big athletic NT that will clog the holes in the running game.
25. Miami Dolphins – Brian Cushing l OLB l USC
Cushing is a good value pick here and fills a need. I don’t believe Matt Roth is the answer opposite Joey Porter.
26. Baltimore Ravens – Darrius Heyward-Bey l WR l Maryland
What do you do when you have a young QB who’s exceptional at throwing the deep ball? Get him a deep threat to throw to.
27. Indianapolis Colts – James Laurinaitis l LB l Ohio St.
Looks like a steal here, but I think J.L. is gonna fall come draft time. Outstanding value pick by the Colts as they continue to load up on defense.
28. Philadelphia Eagles (from CAR) - Tyson Jackson l DE l LSU
We all know how notorious the Eagles are for selecting lineman early on. I think they’ll continue to obtain D-Lineman and Tyson is versatile.
29. New York Giants - Peria Jerry l DT l Ole Miss
I could see the Giants as a predominately run heavy offense next year. Therefore, I think they’ll pass on a WR here and go with a defensive player like a DT or OLB.
30. Tennessee Titans – Hakeem Nicks l WR l North Carolina
This is my guy this year and I will admit that this is more of a wishful thinking pick. Tennessee will probably just pass on WR like every year.
31. Philadelphia Eagles – Brandon Pettigrew l TE l Oklahoma State
If I’m correct LJ Smith is a free agent this offseason. Pettigrew could be utilized very well in the Eagles offense.
32. Pittsburgh Steelers – Rashad Johnson l S l Alabama
Johnson paired with Polamalu could be a scary safety tandem for opposing QBs. Many say O-Line here but I think they’ll deal with that later in the draft.

Without a doubt, Washington has one of the best OT tandems in the league with Chris Samuels and Jon Jansen. Jansen has been injury prone, but he came back this season and put up a good performance. Samuels was injured some this year, missing four games. Depth is an issue for the Skins at tackle. That would be the argument for them taking Oher. Not because they need some beef up front.
Moore had a subpar senior year and has dropped to late first round status. I expect him to last until round 2. I don't foresee any safeties being taken in the first round now that Mays has pulled out.
Bears didn't have a quality pass rusher at end last season. Again, not a problem with the pick. Just the explanation. Am I being picky? Yes. Mostly because I think you can do a very high quality mock.
Can't see Laurinaitis taking that much of a plunge. He's still a Top 20 pick at least.
Jackson being versatile is off in my estimation. I'm not a fan of the guy at all. I could see the Eagles taking him because he could play strong side on run downs. That's the only reason. I expect Jackson to end up in a 3-4 scheme, much like Marcus Spears, who is also a LSU product.
You are correct about LJ Smith and Pettigrew is great value there.
Far too high for Johnson. About two rounds too high at least.

In my opinion if Michael Johnson is measured in at 6'7 and shows off the athleticism that he has at the combines he is going to be a top 15 pick no problem. Not saying he deserves it but reaches like that happen all the time.
If the Jets draft a defender im not going to complain but Moore might be a little of a reach. With that said though I still think he is the best Safety in this draft and the Jets need someone to play oppostie Kerry Rhodes back there.
I agree with Cubs on the Washington pick.
I just dont like the Crabtree to Seattle pick. I just dont see it happening if Burrelson and Branch are on their roster.
I think the Ravens would look at Harvin over Heyward-Bey to be honest.

I wouldn't mind the Redskins grabbing Oher, but it doesn't seem like a move they'd make with the players still on the board. Barring retirement by Jansen or Samuels, I don't see it happening especially with Heyer being able to step in. I do see them drafting depth but not in the first. Keep in mind, I think the Skins only have 4 picks this year so they'll really have to draft wisely.
Also, looks like you might have to adjust your order of picks a little bit too

I totally agree here. I think harvin is much much better. Heyward-bey is fast but not much else IMO. Didn't play in many big games like harvin, and is only a vertical threat... i think he'll end up like troy williamson. As for harvin, the guy is a playmaker. He has a nose for the endzone, and is a lot more versatile, with just as much speed. He can run or catch, and could be the most dynamic player in the draft.

Jeremy Maclin gets my vote for most dynamic player. Harvin is too low on mocks right now, though. He won't be around for the Ravens to consider.
