For the boring, no trade mock that i have inputted for the challenge, follow the link
http://www.fantasyfootballjungle.com...Sommers/543/1a
To note, the Jags pick is because i feel some team will trade into a spot around the jags to get Brohm, so its kinda a way to hedge my bets for the challange.
The following is a 1 round mock, with trades to spice things up.
1. Miami Dolphins - OT Jake Long - Michigan
Why explain? Its already been decided.
2. St. Louis Rams - DE Chris Long - Virginia
Dont believe that Dorsey is the BPA at all. No prospect has the ability to come in and dominate like Chris Long can. He is my pre-draft defensive rookie of the year
3. Atlanta Falcons - DT Glenn Dorsey - LSU
The reason they dont go QB here is because Brian Brohm and Chadd Henne are much closer in talent to Matt Ryan than Kentwan Balmer is to Glenn Dorsey. With two early 2nd rounders, it wont be difficult to get a second 1st round pick.
4. New England Patriots (via trade with Oak) - RB Darren McFadden - Arkansas
In return for the seventh pick in this draft, their second rounder, and oaklands original 3rd rounder, the Patriots are able to make their offense completely unfair. The RB tandem of Maroney and McFadden will make defensive co-ordinators cringe.
5. Kansas City Chiefs - QB Matt Ryan - Boston College
They could go for Sedrick Ellis or Ryan Clady, but Matt Ryan will simplify their confusing (and untalented) QB situation. Even so, they can easily go OT in the 17th spot.
6. New York Jets - DE/OLB Vernon Gholston - Ohio State
Easily the BPA here, Gholston will speed up an already fast defensive corps in New York. The ceiling for Gholston is nearly unlimited, but he is far from a finished product.
7. Oakland Raiders (via New England, via San Francisco) - DT Sedrick Ellis - USC
They needed to shy away from a top prospect because JaMarcus Russell costed them so much from the last draft. Also, they only had five picks, only one before the 4th...Now they have seven picks, including one in each of the first three rounds. Ellis will fill the hole caused by the departure by Warren Sapp, a necessity in a division that includes LT and LJ.
8. Baltimore Ravens - CB Leodis McKelvin - Troy
With Ryan off the board, the next biggest need for Baltimore is CB, to add some youth to a very old secondary. McKelvin is the best CB in terms of ability in the draft, and his return abilities put him over the top.
9. Detroit Lions (via Cincinatti) - OT Ryan Clady - Boise St.
With Sedrick Ellis off the board, Cincy could benefit more from an extra second in 2008 and 2009, and the 15th pick. Detroit is willing to hurt their depth to get the consencous #2 OL in the draft, instead of hoping to get Jeff Otah or Chris Williams.
10. New Orleans Saints - CB Mike Jenkins - USF
A more polished product than DRC, by playing better competition, New Orleans wants a starter now, not a year or two from now. That being said, Keith Rivers gets a big look here.
11. Carolina Panthers (via Buffalo) - LB Keith Rivers - USC
Being told by Buffalo that someone else is trying to jump ahead to pick Rivers, and that the Broncos want him, the Panthers sacrifice a 2nd this year to move up 2 spots.
12. Denver Broncos - OG/T Brandon Albert - Virginia
Desperite for some kind of O-Line, the Broncos select Albert because he can come in and play either OL position.
13. Buffalo Bills (via Carolina) - WR Devin Thomas - Michigan State
A big reciever to compliment Lee Evans should have been priority numero uno for the Bills this off season. Although not the most "talented" reciever in the draft, his size is a massive (pun intended) advantage.
14. Chicago Bears - RB Rashard Mendehall - Illinois
If not for Jonathon Stewart's surgery, he would be the pick this year. There is no way the Bears can still see ANYTHING in Cedric Benson at this point...then again, Rex Grossman was re-signed....
15. Cincinatti Bengals - LB Dan Conner - Penn State
I still believe that Conner is superior to Jerrod Mayo.
16. Arizona Cardinals - CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie - Tennessee State
The most athletic play in teh draft, if he were playing in Div 1, he may have been a top 5 pick, but his level of competition raises some red flags. The Cardinals are very pleased with this pick.
17. Kansas City Chiefs (via Minnesota) - DE Derrick Harvey - Florida
A tough call here, Harvey or Otah/Williams, but since Gosder or Baker should be available in the second for them, Harvey is too good to pass up. They traded Jared Allen for this pick, now they pick his (cheaper) replacement.
18. Pittsburgh Steelers (via Houston) - OT Jeff Otah - Pittsburgh
Wanting to ensure they get their hometown OL of their choice, the Steelers move up in return for a second this year and a 4th next year.
19. Philadelphia Eagles - OT Chris Williams - Vanderbilt
Solidifies their Oline, ok?
20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - WR DeShaun Jackson - Cal
So fast, he is hard to pass on and Tampa desperately needs a WR.
21. Washington Redskins - CB Aqib Talib - Kansas
A few options here, including a few WRs, but Talib is a good value pick
22. Dallas Cowboys (via Cleveland) - WR Limas Sweed - Texas
Tennessse will be disappointed, but Dallas needs to youth-enize their WR corps.
23. Houston Texans (via Pittsburgh) - RB Jonathon Stewart - Oregon
They move down to get teh same guy they should have been targeting, despite his injury.
24. Tennessee Titans - WR Malcom Kelly - Oklahoma
Tough call here, Mayo, Merling, and a trade were all possibilites, but VY needs a target
25. Seattle Seahawks - TE Dustin Keller - Purdue
They wanted a WR, but Keller will do.
26. Atlanta Falcons (via Jacksonville) - QB Brian Brohm - Louisville
Atlanta had the most to offer for this pick, giving up two seconds this year and a 1st next year.
27. Miami Dolphins (via San Diego) - QB Chad Henne - Michigan
Miami does not want Baltimore or San Francisco or Minnesota or the Bears moving ahead of them and taking Henne. They would rather let them fight over Joe Flacco. Miami trades 32 overall, SD's original 2nd and a 3rd next year for a franchise QB.
28. Dallas Cowboys - RB Felix Jones - Arkansas
They need to replace Julious Jones somehow.
29. San Fransisco 49ers (via Indianapolis) - WR James Hardy - Indiana
Niners need a WR, and the home-state talent is the best available
30. Green Bay Packers - LB Jerrod Mayo - Tennessee
What a front seven THAT would be
31. New York Giants - S Kenny Phillips - Miami
Free agency decipated their safeties and LBs, but Phillips is better than any LB available.
32. San Diego Chargers (via Miami) - CB Antoine Cason - Arizona
Replaces Drayton Florence in the nickel slot.
