Default Seven-round Mock!!!!

I understand that it's sometimes tedious to read a seven round mock. Most guys just want to look at the first couple rounds and then see who their team takes in the later rounds. So I'm going to post my mock by round and by team. I didn't have time to do explanations, but most of you guys know my feelings on particular picks and players anyway. (Yes, I still have Dallas passing on Felix Jones. I know he might be the pick, but I'm writing a column for my sports section in tomorrow's paper entitled "Pray Jerry doesn't go Hog Wild". To put Jones in my first round to Dallas would contradict the column. Also, I still say Johnson is the better prospect.)

Had to cut this into three posts cause of the stupid 10,000 character rule.

Anyway, here is by round (1-4)...

I'd be pretty frustrated with the Seahawks draft if they drafted like this. We've talked about this though.

No WR's, for a team that will have Bobby Engram and Nate Burleson at full strength when the season starts.

I don't like Stewart, the only 1st round RB I'd be happy with is Mendenhall.

The only pick I like is Tamme.

I figured you'd feel that way. Like I said, I think Seattle is a tough team to project. I looked at each pick and tried to see if I liked a guard in that position instead. I didn't.

I know you don't like Stewart, but much like I am with Jones, he is a possibility, especially with Alexander gone. That frees up money at the position... sorta. I don't know that I believe Morris, Julius Jones or Duckett are the guys to be the No. 1 back in Seattle.

I think seven round mock drafts are ridiculous (no offense) but still it's impressive that you took your own time to put one together. Really shows how dedicated to football you are.

I'll give my take on the Packers Draft first

Packers aren't as bad at safety as the national media thinks. Atari Bigby came on real strong last year and Nick Collins and Aaron Rouse are serviceable. I could see it happening but I think it's more like Ted Thompson's plan C at the moment.

I like the Fred Davis in round 2 pick. You know I'm high on Davis. He's my #1 TE actually. I think it'd be a great pick for the Packers and a good fit too.

RB in round 2 is a tough one to grasp. To me that means they're giving up on Brandon Jackson. Add Jackson with Grant, Morency, Herron, and Wynn and you have a lot of backs on the roster.

CB in round 3 makes sense. I'd prefer Antwan Molden though. I could see the Packers going CB twice with in the first 4 rounds. Speaking of Molden, I think he's a big dark horse in this draft. A lot of good measurable about him.

Punter in round 4 just doesn't fit Thompson's style. He took Crosby in the 6th round last year but I can't imagine he'll take a punter any higher. Mike Sherman took B.J. Sander on the 1st day of the draft a few years ago and it absolutely was a huge bust. Ted Thompson is not Mike Sherman.

Two safeties is another one that I don't know about. They have depth (4 safeties) going into the draft and walking out with 2 would give them 6. That's an awful lot of safeties to have.

I didn't read pick for pick. I might later. I read the two rounds though.

First of all I give you major, major credit for not only making a 7 round mock, but also taking the time to break it down team by team. I also advise you to get out of the house more often once the Draft passes. (just kidding)

Starting with the Jets for now (I'll try and comment on the entire draft if I have time):
Any mock that has us getting McFadden is good in my eyes. In the 2nd round I think I would prefer either Reggie Smith or a WR (Hardy, Kelly and Manningham all available in your mock), but Avril is a good pick too.

As far as Stewart goes... I've resigned myself to the fact that him being a Seahawk is a definite possibility.

I think the realistic Seahawks draft board at #25 looks something like this

1. Brandon Albert
2. Jonathan Stewart
3. Devin Thomas
4. Kentwan Balmer
5. Malcolm Kelly
6. Fred Davis

Chances are that Albert and Thomas will be long gone, and I'll be frustrated.

My board at 25 would go

1. Brandon Albert
2. Carl Nicks
3. Devin Thomas
4. Malcolm Kelly
5. TRADE

Marcus Monk in the 7th?
Eric Ainge in the 7th?
Ryan O'Hara undrafted?
Aqib Talib ahead of Jenkins?
Brandon Flowers in the 3rd?

However,
I like Slaton in the 3rd.
I like Andre Caldwell in the 2nd.
I like Terrell Thomas in the 2nd.

Flowers is overly hyped. He's a guy I actually believe will definitely not be a first round pick, despite all the draftniks throwing him up that high. He's a cover 2 CB. I don't see him functioning well elsewhere.

Ainge lost me at the senior bowl and combine. Everything he throws looks like a duck. I liked him at Tennessee. One QB not in my mock that I really wanted to get in, but didn't was Kyle Wright.

Everyone still has a wide variety of rankings for the top 4 CBs. Talib is still on top of boards for some, despite the recent troubles. I think Houston would like Talib more.

Ryan O'Hara is way off the draft board. He's a UFA.

Monk I will admit... needs to be higher in my draft. I'm unhappy with the spots of a few WRs in my mock, including Monk, Arman Shields and Pierre Garcon.
