Jaguars
1st Round - OT Eugene Monroe - A
I love this pick. I really can't believe that he fell to us, but what makes this pick stand out to me is that Gene Smith stayed by his BPA strategy. He could have picked Crabtree or Raji but he passed on them to get a great tackle.
2nd Round - OT Eben Britton - B+
I like this pick as well. Some people don't like this pick because they already took a tackle in the first round, but this pick shores up the line. Britton can play guard as well, so he adds nice versatility and depth to 4 out of 5 line positions.
3rd Round - DT Terrance Knighton - C
To me this was the biggest "reach" for the Jaguars. He does help the line some, but he will be more of a development player. I doubt he has an immediate impact. He is pretty big though which is nice but it may take a couple years for him to develop.
3rd Round - CB Derek Cox - B+
A lot of people are calling this pick a huge reach, especially for what they gave up. To be honest, after I read a lot about him I don't see the reach label that was attached to him. He looked great in "underwear" practices, which may not mean much, but corners are one of the few positions you can look at in those. I only really think he got the reach label because nobody had heard of him. I guarantee he would have went round 3 whether the Jags traded up or not.
4th Round - WR Mike Thomas - B
Solid pick and great value in the 4th round. Has a chance to start if he works hard for it.
5th Round - WR Jarett Dillard - B+
I like him a little more than Thomas. He has excellent hands and route running. Holt is also giving him extra attention which never hurts.
6th Round - TE Zach Miller - C
I am now weary every time we take a QB who is changing positions. Zach Miller is a project obviously but he can't be worse than Matt Jones. Miller has decent hands and he is a great runner.
7th Round - RB Rashad Jennings - A-
Great value in the 7th round. Some people had him in the earlier rounds. I think he will have a good chance at backing up Jones-Drew this year. He has already shown he has great hands out of the backfield and really good speed.
7th Round - WR Tiquan Underwood - B-
Another WR. I've heard good things about him but I don't know much about him yet.
Overall B+
I really like what the Jaguars and Gene Smith did in this draft. They stuck with their board and their BPA philosophy and got some nice picks. They also picked great character players most of which where captains voted by their teammates, on their college teams.
