If denver does go Simms that changes a lot because then they wont draft a qb and wont need to get one, so they can get players for the 3-4 and more draft picks. Its rumored the jets are negotiating to offer the 17th pick and david harris.

Actually, I think it's the other way around. If Simms is they're choice, then it puts more emphasis on drafting a QB.
What has Simms ever proved? He's got great size and a strong arm (sound like someone else?) but has never lived up to his hype. He was disappointing at Texas. Longhorns' fans loathe the guy. He lacks leadership. He hasn't played in a game since 2006, other than the two passes he threw for Tennessee in Week 17 of this past season. In 2006, he played in three games, threw seven picks and one TD. He's a risk and a rookie would need to be brought in behind him.
What this opens up is Denver's amount of trade partners. It means they won't need to get a QB in return for Cutler and would rather have a package of players who fit their system. That No. 12 pick would probably be used on Stafford or Sanchez for sure, pending what other picks the Broncos might get for Cutler.

My problems with Cutler's value apparently being so high are:
A) Admitting that Cutler is being traded no matter what gives the Broncos no leverage what-so-ever. Yes this may cause a frenzy of teams interested, and they can use that to their advantage, but often these reports about so and so team being interested doesn't mean that they willing to give up a lot for him. Just because a team inquires about a player, does not mean they have significant interest in acquiring him.
B) Players as of late have been going for much less than expected. Cassel, who was expected to be traded for at least a first round pick this year, ended up going for a 2nd, and Mike Vrabel had to be involved as well in the deal. And you have to remember, Cassel isn't that much less proven than Cutler. Cutler only has 2 full seasons as a starter, and has yet to make the playoffs. I find that often the value fans and the media place on players, is often much higher than actual teams.

To the Bears and did they ever pay big for him.
Denver gets:
QB Kyle Orton
2009 first-round pick (19)
2010 first-round pick
2009 third-round pick (84)
Chicago gets:
QB Kyle Orton
2009 fifth-round pick (140)
Amazing job by Denver getting ultimate value. It was thought they wanted either a QB capable of starting in the NFL or two first round picks included in the deal. They got both.

It seems Denver has found Cutler's value, but I have no idea how they aren't getting arrested for raping Chicago.
All I'm saying is that I'm glad Washington didn't land him. I've been upset about that possiblity since yahoo ran the story yesterday.

I'm still thinking the trade over.
I can't complain about the compensation, two firsts and a thrid is huge. Plus Kyle Orton is somewhat talented and hopefully with the offensive line Denver has will help him out.
However, Xanders and McDaniels HAVE to get these draft picks right. Denver cannot afford to get busts out of this deal.
I will be wearing my Cutler jersey to class tomorrow as a remembrance.

Also, the 3rd round pick is #84.
Pick #99 is a compensatory pick and they cannot be traded.

Cutler vs. Rodgers could revitalize the longest rivalry in the NFL.
